That's because they use tracks

They weed out the dumb kids early and start teaching them technical skills and jobs that don't require college degrees
The way it should be done.

It would significantly improve a large number of schools.

Yet to get into a graduate program, the GRE here in 'Murica only tests basic high school math concepts. I'm taking it next week and this blows my mind.

why most STEM programs expect you to score a perfect in math and also why they require (or at least prefer) you to take the subject GRE for whatever graduate program you're going into

Approximately 25% of the local public HS's student population were socially promoted out of middle school without attaining a passing grade, per state mandate. They will take the ACT along with the 25% of students who are college bound, also per state mandate.

Some Indian guy (like he is actually from India and went to HS there) in my 4000 level math class learned the formal Leibniz rule in HIGH SCHOOL calculus. I'm not talking the basic one everyone learns in freshman college calc. I mean the expanded form.

No one else in class had ever seen this. #merica

Looks like the curriculum at the private Catholic elementary school I went to. No big deal.

Kind of surprised they are teaching religion in a public school in Germany.
Uhm, ever heard of a thing called The Reformation?

We have finally started that in Louisiana, but wait until junior year of high school. We should start at the middle school. I am now at the high school in a town where I taught middle school. I could've pointed out the college bound kids when they were in 6th grade.

I'm sure somehow that curriculum would be called racist here in America.

Most developed countries don't waste their time trying to convince every child that they're college material and they don't focus on standardized testing. We have, arguably, the best university system in the world, but for those under 18 it really isn't that great.
It is the snowflake mentality of most American parents. We have been pumping this idea that everyone can do anything up the mental/emotional asses of our populace for decades.

It's also about money. Colleges would be hard pressed to continue without the massive population of people that aren't told they either aren't college material or don't need college material.

Biggest issue is once you start down that path, it starts taking a socialist slide to it and that can be slippery.

Still being overwhelmed by muslim terrorists, so no thanks.

As far as their education standards, we are sorely behind. I think we offer Ebonics for 6th graders now?

I mean, my school wasn't too far off. No physics or religion. We did Geography and history. We did a 3 month tour of a couple languages.

ETA: Now, that was many moons ago, so I'm sure it has gone way down since then.

Has zero to do with their educational system, which is superior to ours for anyone under the age of 18.
