Sorry Abita fans, this isn't 1999 any more. The state's selection of local and non-local beers have changed and many more people now recognize what good beer taste like.
I can assure you "good beer" does not taste like the overly hoppy "juicy" nonsense the beer hipsters on this forum claim to be supreme.
I'm so sick of the shallow flavor of IPAs I'm about to start drinking Michelob ultra.
Abita has a history of making decent beers and then giving them the wrong name. The Baltic Porter they put out was an excellent beer that was a downright shitty Baltic Porter.

For all the Abita-tards in this thread, you guys would seriously buy Abita with Stone, Ballast Point, Founders, Bells, etc readily available next to it on the shelf?
Posted on 9/19/16 at 4:33 pm to RollDatRoll
That depends entirely on what season it is and what I'm doing.
But most likely, yes. A simple Abita amber is easy drinking.

You beer snobs are a trip. Abita Amber is my go-to every day beer. You guys are weird, imho of course!

If Jesus turned water into beer the hipsters on here would say it isn't hoppy enough.

I will be glad when the IPA fad dies a bit.
I find it hilarious that this has become the go to insult for people that like good craft beer. Believe it or not, "beer snobs" drink a lot more styles of beer than IPAs

Jesus doesn't like malty IPAs, so I'd trust him.

You're kidding right? It's getting to the point that unless you smell the rare or it scores a 95 on beer sites, it's just not good enough for a lot of beer snobs. I know a lot of people like this. I go to my local beer store and there are always people with their phones out looking up ratings on ratebeer to decide if it is good enough for them. It's pretty comical.
You're totally right. I need to just wander into a grocery store and close my eyes and spend $12 on a 6-er that i probably won't like. That'll show those hipsters...

Yeah, but if you think just because the beer received an overall rating of 85 on ratebeer, or a B on another site, that it isn't a decent beer or not good enough then I don't know what to tell you.
i use untappd and it is fairly accurate to my tastes. I know, because i use untappd often and have had beers that were rated a 3.5 and weren't good. So, my past history and my brain, allows me to use a tool that keeps me from wasting money on shitty beer. I'm sorry i'm not as sophisticated to go in blind and hope i dont waste my money.

I can respect the fact that you like Abita, I mean why not. Bud and Miller still sells a shite load of beer for a reason. I personally don't like light beer, never did. Even in the 80's I did not drink light beer, and drank more like Samuel Smiths.

Amber isn't beer snobs problem with Abita.
For ages what abita thought innovation was adding fruit to their beer. They just got passed up, they are the Les Miles of breweries.
While Abita is still successful they have taken a beating in recent years by smaller breweries. New Glarus, which only sales in Wisconsin, sells more beer Abita which is in every single state. It isn't only beer nerds that aren't drinking abita anymore.

I insulted the IPA. I've upset the pretentious masses. How dare me. It also runs me wrong because I have a couple of "IPA only" acquaintances that are bammers and like jam bands. Jam bands are also overrated and Buck FAMA

You had me until the edit.

Not seeking it out but I would certainly give The Boot a try if I see it on the shelves next month. They would have done better introducing it in May or June though. Kolsch is great beer style to drink after mowing the lawn or while fishing in hot weather. I applaud Abita for trying out a new ale style rather than throwing f-ing fruit into a lager.

I drink some Abita, namely Andygator, but I also look up reviews on something I'm unfamiliar with.

I proceeded to google the frick out of them to see what the masses had to say. Left with the highest rated out of the bunch.
I think researching the purchase is kinda smart.
I just don't like half the beers out there right now, the ones I like expand in my stomach like a beach ball and make me wish I never drank them. But they taste good, I love porters and stouts.

As do many people. I've apparently ruffled some feathers of people that are afraid that they may be pretentious beer snobs (not talking about you). There's clearly a difference between someone gaining some knowledge before they purchase and someone that can't bring themselves to buy a beer unless it's rated 95+.
I've explained that several times, but apparently my comment hits too close to home for some. So I'll say this, if someone fits that bill, they are a pretentious beer snob. But you know what, it's ok. Own it. Quit being so offended you hipster douche (once again, not talking to you). I'll keep on being amused by them.
