Question for OT electricians

If it's bad wiring (frayed, shorts out from time to time) or a fault internal to the oven then you don't want to keep resetting the breaker.

If you're handy and have the right tools, disconnect wiring from the breaker and ohm it out. If you're not call an electrician.

Or it could be a bad breaker. Depending on the type you can pick one up at Lowes/Home Depot and swap out (same caveat as above).

why isn't your oven on? You should be cooking up the evening's slop by now.

Either the breaker is bad or you have a short somewhere, either with the wire or at the receptacle. It could be a possible short inside of the oven as well.

Fo the electricians, how does a whole Home surge protector work?

I picked up one at Lowe's since it was in the clearance bin. It was marked down from $75 to $6.

So I figured 'why not' It just needed a dedicated 50 amp. So it has two legs going to it from a 50 amp and then a neutral and a ground going to the bus bar.


Is this just for show, how exactly can it protect the whole house from a surge?

Does it trip when the oven is on as well ?

How did you know it tripped if it was not even on ?

What made a sound when you turned it on , the Breaker ?

I suspect a bad connection where breaker connects to the buss bar.
