This may be a good thread to add to our Sunday Morning armchair QB sessions.

Last night LSU looked like a different team with a capable QB and a very different mindset on offense. We mixed in a very good mix of both running and passing and Etling was very good at distributing the ball to multiple options on offense. The defense was very good for much of the game with the exception of some poor secondary play at times.

Our average starting field position in the 1st half was our 26 while our average starting field position in the 2nd half was the 14 (not counting the last drive). When you have a QB making his first start and has his team backed up inside the 20 the entire second half it is easy to see why the coaches went with a semi conservative approach.

We had 3 drives where we started at the 13 the 7 and the 1.... This is more on the defense and quality punts by the opponent than it is on conservative coaching.

We still threw the ball 12 times in the 2nd half and had it not been for 2 fumbles by our best player and a holding penalty that would have gotten the team out to about the 35 yard line, the score would not have been close.

Our defense gave up a few big plays down the field and then the onside kick recovery cause this game to be much closer than it should have been.

This was not a game that was close because of coaching or because of Les Miles! This game was close because of fluke plays and an opponent who simply played theirs hearts out.

We won a big SEC West game and we looked very good doing it for the most part.

Let's look forward to Auburn next week and keep putting W's on the board! Enough of the negatigers who only want to fit this win into their logic of poor coaching. Let's celebrate the win and an offense that put up 215 passing yards to go along with a solid rushing attack.

Rant over

Keep trying to make yourself feel better. It's still the same poorly coached team it has been.

I guess I agree I am not the one getting paid to coach this team. Too all my Lsu brothers and sisters that pay to go watch: stay strong and stay in the stadium. Change is coming soon. Geaux tigers

Pretty much exactly what I just posted in another thread.

Spot on, but some of the rantards won't have it. It is possible to dislike miles as a coach and still recognize that last night was not necessarily his fault

I couldn't have said it better even if I wanted to. Let's keep winning and just see where it lands us

It indeed was a bizarre game.... Very encouraging stuff on O in the first half, some fluky stuff in the second half that nearly paved the way for an embarrassing collapse.

Overall, I feel pretty good about this team going forward with Etling at QB. Still want Miles gone, and this is likely his final year here, but I think this can be a pretty good team going forward. I'm definitely interested to see how everything plays out the rest of this season.

Our dB Corp is not proving itself as strong as it should be. We have seen way too many dropped interceptions in merely 3 games. Difference makers right there.
You want to get down on Malachi for dropped Balls? Hold Dante Jackson to the same standard.

No,probably just beat the worst team in the West by 3 at home.

No, the most part would be looking good for 50-55mins. We looking good for half a football game.

Yep. These extreme betas are happy with beating them by exactly what South Alabama did.

Anyone who doesn't understand this doesn't understand football or they are so ate up with hate for Les that they just need to walk away from things. I saw plenty of encouraging plays in the 2nd half, even though the overall result was frustrating to watch.

I freaking hate Miles as much as anyone on here, I wanted him gone last year. But... I think the conservative approach was semi-warranted with DE inside the 15 so much. However, some of his calls exuded the staff's inability to keep the foot on the gas.

Fournette kept MState in this game plain and simple, along with their punter dropping some of those coffin corner punts.

Game shouldn't have been as close it was, but I believe that's on the play calling.

And one thing that I believe DE deals with that no one on here really talks about. I think DE is absolutely scared to death to throw another INT. Miles shows no williness to back him up if he makes a mistake. Which I believe comes in with some of the off throws, he may be more focused on keeping it away from the DBs than to the WR.

I guess what drives a majority of all of us crazy is just watching HIS team falling or imploding on the field and the camera shows Les with the "no fricks given stare". Maybe another way of saying it is the "Deer in the headlights" look. Whether it be a time management debactle or stupid penalties at the wrong time. Just seeing Les looking clueless just gets old. Help these young men out right the ship do fricking something

Well, for one, that's not his job on the football team, so why?

I think he should catch them, but come on.
