Just explained that with a 5 WR set the defense would have a disadvantage defending the run. LOL

I hope we can see some of his newfound football acumen.

Is he going to put LF7 in a 5 WR Wildcat formation or something?

He sounded a little confused trying to answer that question.

If our base formation was 3 WR's a TE and DE and LF7 in the back field in the gun, opponents would crap their pants

Guess I'm in the same boat as him, but that's what he said. "There will only be 6 defenders ". Hell, why not?

Especially if the TE is desean smith. He will blow by LBers. I think he's gonna be very happy with etling at qb

I've been saying this.. and even with poor blocking it would benefit the offense to spread it out.. and it will even benefit Fournette

And the caller was asking about a 4 wide set and Les goes on that nonsensical rant about running with 5 wides.

Yea the question was about a 4 WR set, which I scream at the TV for not happening every week....... Les actually answered the question in a way that somewhat made sense. You know how he is about blockers.......your trading a blocker for a WR......if it's a running play and they still stack the box your screwed.

Actually makes sense, however if you have a QB that can exploit it by hitting the check down "cough" like DE did........

You should go 3-4 WR sets every damn down Less

Single back should be our base. 3WR and a motioning TE. See what the D gives you adjust the play to hot routes or switch the run call.

I thought so too. He essentially said it doesn't matter how many wideouts you have set if they're still going to stack the box against you, which is what they'll do in the SEC until you give them a reason not to. The key verses an SEC defense is establishing a balanced attack first. Otherwise you have a defenseless QB or RB getting hammered.

+1! Les is no dummy. He may look like an idiot from time to time (like the rest of us) but he adjusts well. You can bash him all you want but the bottom line LSU was in great position to win the football game at Wisconsin - against a soon-to-be playoff contender. Give him some credit. Now with a QB who can make good/quick decisions it's all about mis-matches and letting LF7 do his thing "at opportune times." Time to OPEN up the damn offense! Defense is SOLID!

I would actually really like to see a "5 WR" set with LF7 and DSmith as two of the "receivers" and then motion LF7. Honestly LF7 has the ability to play a hybrid-slot against an LB and if they put him against a corner then motion him inside and create a super huge mismatch for almost any defense in the country. The possibilities are endless.
