I've already allowed you two to suck me into a silly semantics argument over what "rebuild" means
Sigh. Bless you and Jeff Duncan
re·build
re'bild/
verb
gerund or present participle: rebuilding
build (something) again after it has been damaged or destroyed.
synonyms: reconstruct, renovate, restore, remodel, remake, reassemble
"rebuilding the barn"
Discuss something substantial, maybe. You've become a shell of your former self. I've literally seen you thump your chest 3 times over calling Darryl Tapp resigning. There is more out there than person internet victories

Fact is we weren't rebuilding the base in 2014. We had been stocking pieces for several years before then.
All we did in 2014 is get rid of the pieces we weren't using as much and add a couple of new ones (and it was very few we added; maybe the least in the Payton era). That isn't anywhere near what anyone would call a rebuild in football.
And your silly little dictionary definition doesn't fly here because I disagree with Duncan on using those synonyms anyway. It wasn't a rennovation or retooling as we already had those pieces prior.
The rebuild started last year and this is year two.

You think we are rebuilding this year yet will go 11-5 or 12-4?
Posted on 9/6/16 at 12:09 am to bonethug0108
K. It wasn't a rebuild
If this team goes 8-8 or 7-9 again, you're still thinking reup Brees for another 4 years? What's the timetable for success here?
We've seen Indy flip a 2-14 to 11-5 the next year by adding luck. KC did the same when Andy Reid came on board. Carolina had a nice turnaround
So my question to you is, you have a top 3 QB in the NFL - and say we do finish under 500 for the third year in a row - you're content riding out Brees for another 4 years instead of trading him to acquire picks to actually attemptbuild a solid, balanced roster?
If you're content with 3 sub .500 in a row and want to keep Brees, you are exactly what this thread is talking about. Brees is great - if he can't right the ship and you're truly a fan, let him end his career chasing a title elsewhere - and we can maybe add 3-4 extra draft picks to our cache

You just looked up the word rebuild in a dictionary and bolded a word under synonyms. Glass houses.

What's your point? That turnarounds can happen quickly? Or that teams can build through the draft? That you don't need to let your franchise QB walk to gain success?
Does getting rid of Drew automatically fix our draft and FA signings? Or does it make us instantly a worse team?

First, who are you even trading him to and for what compensation?
Second, do you think the Saints have a better chance of building with a great QB or without one?
Why can't you build a balanced and solid roster with Drew Brees? How'd Denver do it?

Who is content with that? The window to trade Brees has passed.
If you're content with being the Browns for the past 15 years, let Brees walk

Jesus I've read some stupid shite today.

Year two yeah. Other teams have done it in two. Others in one. It happens.

They moved on from Scott Shanle, Sedrick Ellis, Jonathan Casillas and Turk McBride, reduced the roles of Will Smith and Jon Vilma and signed Keenan Lewis, Kenyon Coleman and Victor Butler in free agency. They drafted Kenny Vacarro, John Jenkins and Rufus Johnson and added rookie free agents Glenn Foster, Kevin Reddick and Rod Sweeting. In a few head-spinning months, the Saints defense became younger, bigger and stronger.
I'd consider that a rebuild after 2012 on the defensive side of the ball.
On the offensive side of the ball, the only meaningful player we moved on from in 2014 was Sproles. Moore had already been replaced at that point on the depth chart by Cooks and Stills
We resigned Graham that offseason, extended Junior and Cam, and brought in Byrd. I just don't see it.
In 2014 we went all in for a Super Bowl and it blew up in our face. In 2015, I believe we played more rookie snaps than any team in the NFL.

2014 was Loomis and CSP's last fingertip grasp to make a push with Brees through Free Agency and big signings. Last year was year 1 of the rebuild.
As for trading Drew or letting him walk, screw that. It's like you people don't remember Wade Wilson, Bobby Joe Hobbert, Billy Joe Tolliver, Danny Wuerfull or that other bad of misfit QBs we had for a decade. And apparently you haven't watched teams like Buffallo, the Jets or Jacksonville or Cleveland draft QB after QB after QB at the top of the draft year after year.

We never want to get rid of the guys who made us good or great. It`s understandable.
I on the other hand am NOT a season ticket holder and don`t pay a lot of money to watch a team make horrible decisions. Yes, it`s true, one can`t be right all of the time. However, when you are paid to make the "right" decision, the right decision should be more positive than negative. The last few years that hasn`t been happening.
That being said, the team I think is scared of the wrath the fans, city, and NFL would have on them if they let him go. If the team does truly think he has four good years left, then just pay the man and stop nickel and diming him. You`re going to give it to him anyway.
Personally, I hate to see the day we don`t have him. Even when he isn`t his best, he is the best we`ve ever had, but I do feel we need to move on, because we aren't going to win another super bowl without a great O-line.

It was Billy Joe Hobert and Billy Joe Turnover. Oh, those were the days.

I am a Saints lifer and I would be okay if Brees, Payton, and Loomis were gone.

I think you may be jumping to a conclusion on this one. The reason I don't want to trade Brees is because I can't imagine getting sufficient value for him. He remains one of the top QBs in the league but at his age, we are unlikely to get the kind of value that would justify getting read of the most productive player on the team. Of course, that all changes if someone steps up and makes a huge offer.
As for the money, have you seen what lousy QBs are getting?
