This Dolphin's game playing in Jacksonville because Pro Player (will always be PP to me since I was born in '82) is getting yet another face-lift in a stadium out in the middle of nowhere (confusing it with other area stadiums I think, oh well)... ...

My thought process was about the NHL Florida Panthers playing out in the middle of nowhere and HOLY shite they really are way the f from Miami. I would say that's the reason the Panthers have abysmal attendance but let's not kid ourselves the only city with worse fans the 'Fins are playing tonight

Anywho, if Miami can keep the NHL Panthers, why doesn't Houston have a team(?) with a top notch TV market and willingness to put nice stadiums downtown with easy access ala the Dynamo... Being in Nola, I'd make the 6hour trip a couple times a year like I always did the with 'Stros growing up. I'm sure they would have quit a few fans from SLa. (Dallas just doesn't appeal to me, too far. Also too close to Cowboy fans )

But I think the warm south can still support a couple NHL Yankee type sports in certain areas/cities. I mean hell Pheniox has a team. Also I think Vegas is going to strive. Nashville does pretty well, right(?) Not sure about Charlotte....

Anywho... Just brainstorming.... Feel like I'm eating a shite sandwich sitting in a dumpster while someone is lighting it on fire, watching this game.... Tomorrow we get some real Baws in a real venue.

We can barely afford to support a Major League Baseball roster. No way we can support a hockey team.

I believe Les Alexander has expressed interest in bringing a team here but I don't know what the fan interest would be. We had the AHL Aeros for a number of years but they've moved on. Seems to be more interest in soccer here than hockey, can't imagine why.

No NHL No Care

But to answer your question, I have no clue as I don't live in HOU or Texas for that matter.

Moved to Iowa (attendance wasn't the issue, it was actually pretty solid the last three seasons). They (the Wild) couldn't come to an agreement with Les Alexander and the Toyota Center.

I wonder if that is partially because Les wants to bring the NHL here. I thought I remember rumors that hs has pushed for it in the past.

Alexanders deal with Toyota center means he keep concession rights,

unless he buys ( considered the penguins) no one else will be interested due to lost revenue

If Gordie Howe couldn't save hockey in Houston, nobody can.

Maybe they could go after Edmonton. And make their colors:

Columbia light blue
Scarlett red
White

Would be GOAT out the gate

well I always just pulled for the Blues just because I like blues music and when I was little I pulled for them due to my fav color being Blue and thought that was the reason for the name.

Exactly. They were our test run.

They won a couple titles for whatever league. I went to one game. It was entertaining. But they just lost support.

They weren't the best league. You think Houston would support a AAA team If they didn't have the Stros? Nawwww bruh

I don't understand?

The aeros league was a minor league team. I don't know if they were nhl affiliated. I don't know if hockey works like that.

And for baseball, you can't have a triple a team next to the big club. Nobody does that, right?

I'm shocked we have the Skeeters in Sugarland. Not a MLB affiliated league but still? They paid a chunk of change for a nice park.

Maybe hopes one day a lesser MLB (single a) could take a look?

This, Les Alexander basically guaranteed that the only way for there to be a team in Houston, he'd own it or there wouldn't be one.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. The Astros were rebuilding, now they are coming out of it, attendance is up, and payroll will follow it.

I think Houston would support an NHL team, I'd love it.

i'd love it cause the hockey playoffs are awesome and it would be fun to follow a team for real.

However, NHL needs to look north of the border. Quebec city, while much smaller than Houston, would probably be a better fit. They give a shite about hockey and would turn out even when the novelty fads

Houstonians can be pretty fair weather or just won't waste time/money on a shite team too much other things to do. Particularly in the spring and winter when it is pretty nice out.

If America gets another team, it will be in Seattle or Portland, IMO.
