Do you correct them or just say nothing?

I'm humble, so therefore I don't correct them.

Go with it. It's how I got my screen name/alter ego.

its fun to get a new name for a while.
even more fun when they realize their error weeks later.

I once did nothing to correct a coworker who called me by the wrong name. He and I worked in different departments and only interacted occasionally.
Then, about 9 months later, he became my boss. That was awkward.

depends on the situation.
If I'm at a restaurant where they call your order out for you to pick up, IDGAS because I won't see that person again.
If I'm in a social setting and am meeting new people and they say the wrong thing, just a polite correction will do.

It really depends. If it's someone who I'll have to communicate with often I'll correct them, if it's someone who I'll only see or interact with a few times, I just let it go.

Polite correction if I expect to meet the person again.
Else a smile and forget. My name is difficult and people really wish to pronounce it correctly.

In a professional setting I usually just say, "what's my name? If you don't know you better axe somebody"

My last name is both difficult to pronounce and spell.
I'm at the point where I'll basically answer to anything.

My last name gets mispronounced, I usually just go with it unless the person asks if the pronounced it correctly.

Only time I don't is ordering food over the phone. I usually try once or twice, and then just go with whatever name they give me

It's nice having a title, they don't get that wrong.
You would call a judge "Coach".

I love it when it happens at my bar job. People will just yell some random name and then get mad and tell me i was ignoring them. no m'fer. you called me jason. not even remotely close to my real name. therefore you weren't talking to me so I didn't respond.

When the Misses is picking up an order I called I. I always give the name of a well known Bama player/coach so she has to say that.
She's an Auburn fan.
She however is not a fan of me doing the name thing.

If its an older person I don't think twice about it. If its a situation in which I am in communication with someone on a regular basis and they have called me the wrong name several times, I will politely tell them my name.

Better than them pretending to know your name and saying "hey there," or "hi buddy," or whatever.
