I'm in the process of getting one now. Times have changed and so has my way of thinking.

Get a single shot shotgun. Much more effective and safe.
Did you really just type this nonsense...2 burglars break in your home, bam you shoot one then tell the other burglar hey let me reload real quick before you come any further....
Shotguns are great self defense but get a pump or semi-auto and pull the plug out so it will hold 5-6 shells....Not a dang single shot

Those are cities that you don't ever go to mostly, not suburbs like BR mostly is. And Hartford has like 25 murders a year...New Orleans is well over 100. Baton Rouge is over 50 per year. Crime up there is very contained to small (inner city) areas.
I am not trying to bash, but I never felt nearly threatened living in the suburbs up there like I do in BR, where every area of the city is subject to break ins. How often do you leave your car or house unlocked in BR? I would never, but have felt perfectly fine to do so in other places.
Crime is a fact of life in BR, and you are always on guard. That sucks is all I was trying to say n my original post.
So you're saying segregation does have some upsides to it.

Complete honesty, is there ever moments that you regret not having a gun available for protection?
No

Not a gun owner. I've gone shooting planting of times. Will probably consider getting a CCP in the coming weeks.

Gun Owners (civilians) are 83% more likely to use their guns on themselves.
Put that in your pipe & smoke it. We need tougher gun laws in America. And I'm a conservative. (Reagan wanted tougher gun laws too)

Meh, I see it having more to do with excellent public schools that are inclusive of everyone, so that you have less segregation.
This allows poor people to get a better education, and provide the ability to raise themselves up. That is near unpossible if you've been educated by some of the shittastic public school teachers from Louisiana I've seen posting on Facebook.

As someone who has never been a fan of keeping a gun in the house, I'll be getting one soon.
All of my neighbors have an email going back and forth for a plan in case anything ever happened. At this point it's better to be prepared than running around scared in a chaotic situation.

Only a couple of entry points to our street, one overly paranoid neighbor is organizing it, but after the last few weeks more people have stopped laughing at his paranoia and are listening

that's kind of the reason why the gun is pulled. when your life is in danger. pretty stupid argument.

I've just never in my 46 years been in any situation where I personally felt any way threatened enough to have a gun on or near me for personal protection
So you are waiting until you are in a situation where you need a firearm to get one? Just a hint; It will be too late at that point.
Posted on 7/18/16 at 9:54 am to Chad504boy
not meant to be an argument as I am an avid gun owner. Just a statement. Some people don't realize what it means to carry.
