ORLANDO - A Walt Disney World intern is back on the job after she was briefly fired for tweeting a photo of a sign telling employees how to respond to questions about alligators in the theme park's waters.

I thought they knew about the gators?
Posted on 7/17/16 at 10:43 am to LSUTANGERINE
well thats a dumb sign

I have no beef with Disney firing an employee for leaking internal correspondence. You have an obligation to keep company guidance and memoranda behind the public wall. If you live tweet this shite, expect consequences.

I don't understand the issue with the sign. I get it, you don't want to create panic and telling people "Oh yea, there's crocs around here" is going to do just that.

No way corporate Disney made that sign. That must of been made by a middle level manager

Do you even whistleblower?

Whistleblower protections are for those who are bringing criminal actions and gross misconduct to light.

If you have a problem with an internal memo bring it to your manager's attention not Twitter. Deserves to be fired.

agreed...I would not want this individual working for my company, as this shows a clear lack of judgement on the part of the employee. not sure why Disney would want this person working for them.

But the sign is telling them to lie, if one was seen. In other words, if there are verified reports of a gator, respond "not that we know of"

Although Disney was not being criminal, that is why she got her job back.

I'm a huge supporter of whistleblower rights. Often they aren't provided when they should be.
This person isn't uncovering some evil plot. Just them telling their employees to no scare the piss out of their guests.
His chick ain't Snowden.

The sign specifically states to tell a guest that if one is seen, Pest Management will be called. They aren't being told to ignore a verified report.

There were 2 gaters last time I was there in that exact spot. Small maybe 3 feet long.

By lying if they have to.

I dont see any problem with the sign. Disney doesn't want guests freaking out about alligators. It's not like they told employees to lie, just to be careful what they say.

True, but still to say "not that we know if" [if you see one or her of on being seen]. So, if one is seen, be sure and tell them "not that we know of", but IF we do, we will call pest management.

Pretty much they are in certain circumstances- if they see one or hear of someone seeing one, then lie about it by denying. IN other words, it absolutely sets up the potential for lying.
