Talented receiver Trey Quinn opens up about transfer from LSU - ANDREW ASTLEFORD

Wide receiver Trey Quinn has plenty to say about his transfer from LSU.

Quinn, who caught 22 passes for 276 yards in two seasons with the Tigers, transferred to SMU in May after his short stay in Baton Rouge. He had five catches for 83 yards last year. A former four-star prospect from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Quinn opened up about his feelings after moving to SMU in a post on DatBoot.com.

“I’m probably the most optimistic person about this whole deal,” Quinn told the website. “My dad was kind of like, ‘I don’t know how you put up with all this stuff.’ But I know, at the end of the day, God has a plan for me, and I’ve kinda bought into his plan and whatever he says goes goes, you know?”

Quinn said he felt the pull to attend LSU initially because “you go there because you’re born and raised in Louisiana. … You’re coming out of high school, and you see Odell (Beckham Jr.) and Jarvis (Landry) have so much success in their home state and how they were treated, and it’s kind of hard not to want to do that.”

That perspective is understandable, and Quinn likely hasn’t been alone in feeling that way. However, he decided LSU wasn’t the place for him when he announced his intention to leave the program in February. He must sit out the 2016 season, but he has two more years of eligibility left.

Quinn sounds content with the choice he has made.

“But there’s always light at the end of the tunnel,” he told DatBoot.com. “It’s just whether you wanna stay on the train or hop off. I’m staying on the train and continuing the path.

“I think if I had a message for any recruit coming out of high school, it’s to find that one school that you feel comfortable with that they’re gonna be there with you through thick and thin, regardless of the outcome on Saturday. I think that’s what I found the second time around.”

You can’t fault a player for trying to find a better fit for himself. Still, it’s always revealing to hear the reasons behind a change.

That is good advice. I'm sad he didn't find it at LSU. Hopefully he does at SMU.

If that's a reason then...sure I guess.

I guess I'm missing it. I still don't understand what his reason was for leaving other than the only obvious thing I could conclude prior to reading this, which is the depth chart.

The article really didn't give specifics as to why...

Reading between the lines, I think he regretted signing with LSU. I followed his recruitment throughout HS and he was a big time Clemson lean. Probably felt obkigated/pressured to sign with the local tigers, then watched Clemson build itself into a national contender. Watching 5'10 Hunter Renfrow go HAM against Bama probably didn't help.

I wish Trey the best of luck.

The picture of him crowdsurfing is iconic.

He was buried on the depth chart. Being the #5 or 6 WR at LSU means you're getting 3-5 targets per year.

I don't know why he needs to explain himself.

Trey was loyal to his home school/state and now it's time for him to do what's best for him

Was it 3 different 3rd Down Drops Jennings delivered it perfectly in his chest....they would have kept drives going, eaten up time on the clock.

Lol he said nothing.

Hope it works out for him, but it was a bunch of fluff and cryptic quotes.
