They are a big market team(Miami)

They have a brand new ballpark

They already have superstar players like Stanton and Jose Fernandez on their team

Why do they never spend during free agency. Their payroll is $70 million which is 30 million less than the Minnesota Twins and less than the amount of salary that the Dodgers have on the DL.

Could it be ownership?

Could it be management thinking smartly ahead?

Because they have far and away the worst owner in sports. They spent on Buehrle, Reyes and others the offseason before their new stadium opened, only to sell them off at the deadline.

As a Marlins fan new uniforms suck and they didn't attempt to resign anyone from World Series teams

its not really that big.

medium sized.

2 million total metro.

NYC metro 17 million
LA county 10 million
SF bay 6 million
Chicago 7 million
Dallas Ft Worth 7 million
Houston 6 miillon
Those are the big markets

Philadelphia Delaware valley is 2nd tier at 2.5 million.
there are several at that level.

Miami metro is as big as Boston metro but New England has been a key baseball area for generations and the city of Boston is much bigger than Miami.

The numbers for Philly Miami and Boston are so far off. Miami and Philly metro areas are both around 6 million and Boston 4.7. I'm guessing he just made them up

Apparently you missed when they brought in Reyes, Buerhle, Latos, among others over the last few years and that blew up on them.

Loria runs the Marlins solely to turn a profit, doesn't give a frick about the fans.

Ehh kinda sorta not really.

Miami-Ft.Lauderdale is 16th overall in the nation.

That puts them just above Cleveland-Akron and Denver and just below Minneapolis-St. Paul and Seattle-Tacoma.

I'm a Marlins fan since inception. Bitter over the lack of want to be a competitive team and the new color scheme.

teal and black should have stayed and we had a classic logo. now we look like a seaworld's triple A team.
