Cannizaro is a superstar coach. Sitting behind a lame coach like CPM is not going to last.
LOL at all you people saying he would stay here as an assistant for 2 more years. Your purple and gold glasses need their lens wiped. We can get only hope to get him when CPM finally leaves.
You act like AC has been the backbone of our program for years. He's been here for only 2 years. Mainieri gave him his first coaching job. He was not some established coach already.

He is headed to stinking Tulane if Pierce is gone from my rumor source. Don't know if UT is closed to other candidates.

Tulane has to be a great opportunity for him, but he'll never make the money with the wave that he would at LSU. And I don't think he could leave Tulane for LSU. It might be better for him to go somewhere else, earn success, then come to LSU in five or six years when CPM is done.
lol what a terrible post

A thread identical to this one was whacked last night after WDSU reported the "Cannizaro interested in La Tech job" rumor was untrue.
This thread needs to die for the same reason.....it's an untrue rumor.

Dude he seriously could have assistant coached anywhere. Anywhere. Google what TCU coach said about LSU getting him. They would have put him on their staff whatever it took.

Fact is we are keeping our tired old coach and paying him more while losing the best offensive assistant in college baseball.
Cannizaro is energetic, motivating, super positive and likable. He was a star player and his time as a scout is huge for recruiting.
He's the hottest assistant coach in the game and will get an offer.

Who is WDSU? Wanted to read what they wrote

Who is WDSU?
The thread that was whacked last night had a link in it to the WDSU quote about the rumor being untrue.
ETA: I believe the story was by one of WDSU's sports reporters...maybe his from his twitter account? I don't remember, I didn't post the link, I just read it in the thread that was whacked.

Couldn't blame but think he waits to see where the chips fall regarding Texas/Tulane

Sorry. Didn't know. I'm in North Louisiana.
The only link I saw was the tech rivals pg.
Thanks

I would've preferred LSU take the raise money they gave PM and hand it to this guy to keep him here at all costs. He's a great young coach and I'd imagine we're not going to hold on to him for much longer unfortunately. Anyone who thinks a hitting coach doesn't matter in baseball is blind. Their plate approach and discipline this year for such a young group was amazing. Since he came here you can tell it's totally different from when Javi was here.
Not trying to slam PM because I think he's a good coach(even though I don't like him as a person) I just think AD is that valuable to us right now. I kinda didn't like how PM went about getting that raise either but it is what it is. He did a very good job with a team that surpassed all expectations this year.

I believe the quote about Cannizaro not being interested in the Tech job was by one of WDSU's sports reporters...maybe from his twitter account????
It said something like "With 100% certainty, I can say Andy Cannizaro has not expressed interest in the La Tech opening." Something like that....
I didn't post the link, I just read it in the thread that was whacked.
ETA: Here it is...

I don't think Tulane would hire a guy who's never been a HC before. Way too risky.
its not risky at all given his backround

He would do it in a heartbeat given the opportunity. Chance to be a head coach at a good program is better than being an assistant

Tulane should always be the second best baseball program in the state but for whatever reason they've let ULL take that spot.

A couple of years ago my kids gave me a gift of a custom made, personalized with my name on it, LSU themed, purple Marucci wood bat for Father's Day (timely). I took it to the LSU baseball office to see if I could drop it off for the LSU coaches to autograph and I would go back and get it later.
As I was explaining to the baseball secretary at her front desk what I wanted, Coach Mainieri overheard me from his office, came out and said, "We're all here now, let's do it while you're here," and then walked me and the bat to each coaches' office to get it autographed while I was there.
He didn't have to do that.
When I was first diagnosed with colon cancer 9 years ago, out of the blue I received in the mail a framed photograph of Coach Mainieri on which he wrote get well soon wishes and signed it. To this day I'm not sure how he knew what I was going through but his gesture was and still is greatly appreciated.
He didn't have to do that either.

At the fall scrimmage Manieri came and talked to the fans by the dugout. Chit chatted with my pawpaw and I for a few minutes. He seemed really nice and it was an awesome experience.
