One report says the boy was 10 feet on shore and another that he was in the water.

New motto: "Disney, Where Your Chances Of Dying Are Statistically Zero"

No, just being eaten by an alligator. The chances of dying on property are probably something above statistically zero, but I'd bet less than your chances generally offsite.

I'm sure this has been said, but it's not the gators, it's the beach.

We'll save that argument for another day

"Gators" from watching college football

We should protest and demand that The University of Florida change their mascot so as to be more sensitive to the victims of Alligator attacks.

Disney World should create safe spaces along their beaches where anyone can go and not have to worry about microaggressions due to the presence of alligators.

Exactly my point. And every once in a while, you'll hear of a gator biting/attacking someone. It doesn't happen often, but it happens.

There have been 2 gator attacks in Louisiana, with 0 fatalities, since 1948.

Risk management doesn't say to eliminate every single risk

How, exactly? That like saying you can keep the Smoky Mountains bear free or the Gulf of Mexico at Destin shark free. You can't do it.

yeah, and while they're at it, they could keep seagulls from attacking people eating their giant turkey legs too

We are never safe. Safety is an illusion a false construct. A plane could crash into your house right now. A truck could hop a curb a run you over a tornado could whip up and carry your house off. Safety is something we strive to achieve and something that looks good on OSHA tables but we can never truly be safe because the world has variable. Disney does more than most to minimize risk, but an ambush predator grabbing a kid at night? I mean I would think more people have died at Disney by lightning strikes than have been bit by alligators.

How? How exactly what would "North Tiger" do? How would you remove a natural predator from it's habitat. You could drain the lagoons and kill everything in it and still there would be gators. There is a reason they were here before the dinosaurs and they are still here now. As a species they are survivors.

There is little you could do, short of salinating the water and killing off all the surrounding vegetation. Of course then you may get crocodiles, so that's moot
