Notice the Brachiosaurus gets up on its hind legs and reaches only as high as it was eating on all fours.
FIFY. This isn't Jurassic World
FIFY.

I've always read it took 6 hours to render a single frame of TRex in the rain. Aka 10 days to produce 5 seconds of cgi.

I always thought Laura Dern (The lady scientist) was way older, but she was only in her 20s when she did Jurassic Park.

I actually thought about that after I posted, thanks. I'll edit so it's correct.

The effects comments are dead on. I don't know how, but Jurrasic Park cgi is better than 95% of the shite that comes out today. Spielberg really channeled Jaws in this one. Either the effects were way too expensive or he just lerned his lesson on Jaws…. Less is more.
I passed up seeing this movie in a theater as kid to go see Home Alone 2 or something similar (can't really remember). Everyone said you have to see it in a theater because it was genuinely terrifying and awe inspiring at the same time. One of the bigger movie going mistakes of my life.
Even watching on home video as s kid, the TRex scene had so much building tension, fright, and then payoff.
It also became one of the most rewatchsble movies ever made and the true definition blockbuster. Amazingly Spielberg has another half dozen or more movies on the same level as Jurrasic Park, dude truly is the greatest director on history.

He made a very good movie but I hated that he turned the lawyer from a badass into a weak shithead just so he could do a cheap joke w/the dudes death. I also didn't care for the changes Hammond. Dude is an arrogant POS in the book who gets what he deserves.
also, while this has nothing to do with the adaptation quality, the continuity errors w/the goat leg scene are really hard to unsee.

That's because they still used animatronics and there was a real dinosaur prop to with it. You can do anything you want today with CGI, but it loses its reality if it's just an orgasm of CGI.

Spielberg nailed that scene, but didn't put Carry over the tone of the book very well.
It is definitely the best adaptation of any of Crichton's works, but it is still lacking in some respects.

I agree with Scruffy. Although I would never have expected the movie to go exactly how the book went. It would have been way too long, for one.

I will always love Jurassic Park. I was six when it came out and it scared the living shite out of me. I still do stupid things in real life from that movie like make the water in a water bottle bounce if we're just chilling in a car and not moving.

While 95% of the film adaptations of Crichtons books have fallen far short of their material, Speilberg nailed it in every way possible.
do you mean that scene? Because I found the book much better and darker.

One of the GOAT movies. It's a masterpiece. I can still remember seeing it in the theater for the first time with my brothers and cousins.

I don't disagree with that. The book is much darker and bleak. I love it, it's on my yearly reread list. With movies, there will always be artistic license because it's physically impossible to transfer everything from page to screen in a 2 hr movie. Hunt for Red October is an excellent example of using artistic license without detrimentally effecting the quality of the story. Speilberg took the source material and created a visual masterpiece while maintaining the essence of the novel.
Unlike say, Sphere, which is probably my favorite Crichton novel, where the film adaptation COMPLETELY MISSED THE POINT OF THE BOOK.
