Was the blackberry more "advanced" than the Razr? I remember getting a blackberry several months before the iphone was released.

just in that it had a real keyboard. the first blackberries were kinda crap (palm pilots that could make phone calls) compared to what we think of with blackberry in the mid 2000s.

i imagine most of us that aren't millennials (no offense intended) remember this as our first cell phone.

This thread is bringing back memories, but if I recall, the phone I previously posted was my first ever cell. I had it for awhile, then my next cell phone was this bad boy.

It had a colored screen. I remember being in Tiger stadium and being about to access espn.com to check scores, but it cost by the minute to use the internet and that shite was slow.

Some pretty girl sent me some super blurry nudes from her LG chocolate. I've never been so happy and so sad at the same time.

Did anyone have one of these?

It was a popular college graduation gift around the time my age group were graduating. It was more of a headache than anything.

I worked for pipeline company that used those as work phones. We used to call it No-tel. Couldn't get a signal for shite outside the city.

Mine always worked great. I did have a buddy whose wasn't worth a shite. I had gotten a blackmarket antennae for mine

Best pure cell phone I've ever owned. Had it for two years before upgrading to a Palm Treo. Wife used it for a year when she broke her phone. That damn thing worked everywhere, too.

My daughter has used it as her "play" cell phone. It's still sitting in her purse in her play room. I plugged it in, battery won't hold a charge, but it still lights up a decade later.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that despite spending 2 years in my pocket and another year in my wife's purse, then a couple of years in storage boxes followed by two plus years on the floor of my daughters playroom, it still is in great shape. No cracked cases or screens. Compare that to the $700 iPhone that I've got a $100 case on to prevent it from falling apart if it falls off the couch.

IIRC, cell phone makers kept lowering the transmission and receive output to increase battery life (also paralleled putting up more towers). They were all originally 3 watts, and now are around 0.3 watts. You can get a signal booster to go back up to 3 though
