Are you an IV drug user?
Posted on 5/20/16 at 3:26 pm to game blouses
Have they checked these:
rheumatoid factor
antinuclear antibodies
anticardiolipin antibodies
antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies
Have they evaluated the rest of the Aorta? Would be called a CTA chest/abdomen
Things I'm thinking about:
Takayasu Arteritis
Sarcoid
Fibromuscular Dysplasia
All are uncommon things that can cause carotid artery stenosis.
Then again it could be a traumatic stenosis from the surgery.

I'm in the hospital at this moment with severe pnuemonia. Any advice from OT med experts or OT ballers who have experienced this crap before?

I know this, it's not Lupus.

This. Pattern more consistent w/ autoimmune than infection. Malignancy is running distant 3rd. Have any of your other vessels been scanned? If autoimmune, you would likely see similar stenosis/occlusion elsewhere.

That's a tough one, but I'd definitely get worked up for a hypercoagulation disorder. Any family history of stroke or heart attacks at a young age? How's your BP? As mentioned, autoimmune is also on the differential

It's so fricking cool how far we've come as a species. I don't know what most of those words mean, but I'm so glad you do

None of those would be an issue with this particuar condition. Get off Google, son. A little information can be a dangerous thing.

There are a few doctor posters who seemingly dick around on here all day, so I doubt they would be of any use to you
What about the utility of self righteous attorneys who begrudge others for wasting time on a message board while his own authoritative observations (which could only be validated if he was also on said site all the time) suggest he is guilty of the same behavior he loathes.
You frickers crack me up.

No singing for me but who knows....seems like the million labs would have found infection by now. I've done tons of research on Carotid problems and it's always a plaque(cholesterol) problem or dissection from injury. So I don't fit either of these and Docs are scratching heads. Surely SURELY I'm not the first person to ever have blocked carotid that's not from plaque or injury. Anyways thanks for prayers and if any Docs or med workers have advice it's certainly welcome...
What types of specialists have you seen so far?
Posted on 5/20/16 at 4:45 pm to tigerpimpbot
Started with my GP then got referred to a vascular surgeon. On the lookout for the right specialist to see right now.

Just fumbling around with unsuccessful labs and not saying or doing much other than putting me on Plavix.

This.
Story doesn't add up.

Dr Andy Olinde did 3-4 surgeries on my Mom......both carotids too. Great doctor and very personable......always took time to explain procedures in layman terms
