I'm looking at the JBL Flip 3 to use on the beach in a few weeks. My only concern is how loud it will be. If I can't hear it over the sound of the waves then I would rather save my money. Anybody use one similar?

I can't offer insight on the one you mentioned. I have the one below and use at beach. It's plenty loud and sounds very good.
On sale for $69

Braven BRV-1 Portable Speaker

Edit: first review in link below ranks the one you listed as best overall under $100. Many other speakers ranked too.

LINK for specs and a bunch of reviews.

I researched and tested almost all Bluetooth speakers for the same purpose as yours. I also use mine daily by the pool.. There is only one answer, JBL Extreme for many reasons I will not go into detail on. You want super quality sound that has volume if needed then go with the Extreme..

You will get some that say Megaboom but if quality sound is a factor to you then don't do it. If you want something that can be loud but sound like an AM radio then consider Megaboom..

Furgo XL is great and a solid #2, but does not get too loud. Might be perfect if you are only listening under a canopy, but by an open area like a pool the sound does not displace...

I just bought the DKnight Magicbox. Works really well for the price ($24).

We've had this one for several years and taken it to multiple beaches. It's very solid. I really like it because it has minimal buttons and is very solid. Great for portable use.

I can't speak to others.

My TDK holds 10 D batteries and is louder than you'll ever need. You can plug a guitar or a microphone into it if you really want to upset some people. Not sure what they offer now, but it's worth a look.

You cant go wrong with any of the JBLs. Im looking to upgrade my JBL Flip 1, which has been great except the battery. Will probably go with the Charge pretty soon.

We have a UE Boom We purchased it because it is water resistant and will handle drops (I have tested this and it still works)

A friend of mine has the JBL charge and it is nice as well.

Dude you're at the beach. Listen to the waves or the kids playing. I don't want to hear your crappy music.
