Was always fond of Diawas when I was younger...now I'm getting back into fishing after a decade+ layoff. Wondering everybody's favorite brand of baitcasters overall.

I was in the same boat last spring. I found some Lews Laser ltd. on clearence for 60.00 each and bought 3 and like them very much. Also bought 3 pro qualafiers/carbonlite combos for 100.00 at BPS during the spring sale and those are pretty nice as well, but it seems the Lews may be a little smoother and better casting. This is for bass fishing, not sure what you are into.

Yeah mainly bass fishing, some crappie too.

It's kind of like Chevy/Ford. You will get a different answer from most, also get a lot for Lews. Depends on your price point, Lews is hard to beat.

People really spend that much on baitcast reels?

And I just bought a Lews that I'll be trying this weekend.

Lew's. The regular $100 speed spool will probably be the easiest to set and throw getting back in the swing of things. My buddy still swears by them.

For salt water Lews BB2 inshore

I cant bring myself to pay more than $150 for a rod and reel. My next set up is a new worm rod. $79 Lews laser speed spool and a $39 7 foot allstar rod

Lew's BB1 and BB1 Pro are my favorites. I can't really pick one over the other. The Pro is a little lighter though.

FWIW, bowie has curados for 139.99. I picked up two on Monday when the sale started.

I never fished with anything other than Shimanos, currently I use a Citica 201G6, a Curado 201E7, and a Chronarch MG51 and have been happy with all so far. I'd love to try a 13 Fishing Concept C soon.

I hear about the fishing concept reels a lot, but I have zero experience with them.

I have 4 Shimano Citica, an Abu Garcia Revo S, a Quantum Team KVD PT, and a Lew's Laser Pro Speed.
I'd rank them newest Citica, Lew's, Revo, old Citicas, then the Quantum.

I have a Quantum Energy PT. doesn't cast any type of string to save its life. But with 16# drag it's perfect for flipping and pitching heavy cover. Making lemonade.

I don't really have one. I currently own multiple brands. Zero Shimano.
