Shortest layover you would book a flight

I was trying to book a flight to and from Tegucigalpa, Honduras just now. On the Avianca website, they have an option that has a 30 minute layover (plane lands in San Salvador from Tegucigalpa at 07:15, connecting flight leaves at 07:45)

Would anyone purchase this flight with such a short layover? It's got the most convenient times for me but it seems like I'd probably miss the flight.

I had a one hour at Frankfurt, Germany and no way you can make a flight there in an hour. They only post the Gate about an hour before the Flight and then you got to haul arse to the Gate and you cannot make it. They put me on a later Flight. I feel pretty good if I got like 2 hours. Gives you time to go to the Toilet and maybe get a Burger.

Being late stresses me out in general....it escalates when I fly.

So for me I feel most comfortable when a layover is at least 90 minutes long. Enough time to allow for flight delays and gives me enough time to reach other terminals and hit a bathroom to freshen up and grab some food in the airport(even if it's just fast food to go that I eat real quick or just bring on the plane) before boarding my next flight.

I actually don't mind longer layovers. I can people watch or sit and read for several hours and I'm fine.

From what I'm reading online, seems like San Salvador is an easy place for connections as there's no customs or passport control. I'd probably book it just because it's an early morning flight and the chances of it being delayed are much less likely than an afternoon/evening flight.

Where is your final destination? I'm sure rebooking that early in the morning really wouldn't be all that difficult if you did miss the connection

ETA: Charlotte has 30 minute connections if connecting terminal E to terminal E and I think (may be wrong) B to C/vice versa. You may have to run a bit but better than sitting at the airport for an extra hour or four

Coming back from Anchorage, we had a 30 min layover in SEA and 40 min layover in ATL. We got very lucky. Stepped out in Seattle, walked 2 gates down, there were 2 people in front of us boarding. We were in SEA about 2 minutes. Land in ATL, step out and 5 gates down, there was a line boarding.

We spent about 15 minutes in the airports total in 2 layovers. It was crazy

In many airports it depends on whether you have to change terminals and go thru customs/passport control. Amsterdam is notorious for delays in passport control. Ditto Heathrow. But if you fly in/out of same terminal it's usually no problem

I've had plenty of 30 minute layovers and been fine (had one Tuesday actually). But a 30 minute layover in a foreign country? Screw that.

I looked up some Internet chatter on connections at San Salvador Airport, I'd give it a try with 30 minutes.

Especially if your first flight arrives on time to SAL, it's been my experience that Avianca flights in Central America are not usually timely in departure times.

That means in the real world your connecting flight will probably not leave SAL on time.

Allegedly (from what I've read) all Avianca flights at SAL (Monseñor Óscar Arnulfo Romero International Airport) deplane and load into the same terminal so at least you won't have a connecting terminal issue.

I typically aim for at least 45 minutes when booking a flight. I don't know if I'd go 30 minutes, but maybe if it's a small airport.

Depends on the airport where you are changing planes.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras

One of the sketchiest airports I have traveled to.

Between the approach and landing coming over the mountain ridge and dropping into the valley, and the mass hysteria at customs. I would a lot more time for arrival and departure.

Not sure how large the airport is but I do 30-35 mins frequently in ATL.
