i was a 10.9 - 11.3 runner in HS. but all i ran was the 100 and sprint relay.

i ran one about a year ago at 12.9 and i'm still pretty in shape.

just saw all the "sure you did" posts. i really did run those times.

Quan Cosby who played @ UT kicked my arse in the 100 once. That was fun.

i also got to long jump right after Cedric Benson (huge meet where 2As - 5As ran at the same meet but had different divisions)

Could run a 10.1 back in high school, was the state champ but my time got disqualified because of a computer virus. That was like a million beers ago, before I tweaked my ankle playing football(had a full ride to the NFL, sucks).

Probably could only run a upper 10s or lower 11s 100m nowadays, possibly lower if I would stop all the drinking and smoking.

I think I could do it in less than 20 seconds. I can run a sub 5 second 40, but I drink a lot.

Pretty much all decently fast men in their athletic prime should be able to run under 12 second on a track in spikes.

That said, in a 100m dash tenths of seconds mean a lot, if you are 0.3 seconds faster than someone they won't even be in the camera shot down the finish line with you. At the high school level there is a huge different between 11.99 and 11.50. Between 11.5 and 11.2 you have pretty good speed. Between 11.2 and 11.0 you are winning some mid level races. Between 11.00 and 10.8 you are winning a lot of races. Sub 10.8 you are competing for regional and state championships in all but the biggest classes and most likely running in college.

If I trained for a month or two, absolutely. Haven’t broken out in a full on sprint since college tho. Was sub 11 then and still run a lot just more distance.

I have this on going discussion with co workers and ill put out here. Id bet that 85% of this board couldnt run 100m with the male leaders of the Crescent City and they are doing it for 6.2 miles.

Id say that there are only few here that could run 100 meters with an elite miler.

Watching an Olympic level 100 in person is phenomenal. So is a sub 3:50 mile. You see the start and you think..do they know its 4 laps

Right now...i could break 17 sec. But im not going 150m at tat pace

frick NO!!! I could barely run that in high school and I was a decently fast white boy (best time 11.2). Today if I made it in under 16 seconds and didn’t tear a hamstring I’d call that a win.

400m is the hardest damn race I’ve ever fricking run. It’s too short for running so you have to sprint it. That last 125-150 meters sucks so hard. It’s the only time I’ve ever thrown up from running.

I wrestled in high school so we ran a lot. But we either did sprints like shuttles or long distance runs. Nothing like a 400 or 800. I tried out for track and decided to just go balls to the wall on a 400. I ran as hard as I could for as long as I could and ran something like 59 seconds (I was 16 and 150 lbs of muscle). When I finished I promptly walked over to the trash can and vomited my guts up.

If I tried that today, I might legitimately die
