Follow the link I posted above. Call the number and ask to speak to Laura. Talk with her about your experience and what jobs they have available.

Just because you're capable of taking care of yourself doesnt mean you have the immediate ability to do so due to the industry that you work

if you've worked your entire life, then in some way or another you have been paying into the unemployment system through your employer, its time for you to take advantage of it to get you through the tough times

You've earned your share of unemployment. Use it. This is exactly what it's for.

exactly this. it's not much but it does help. this is why it was created in the first place.

Bro, unemployment in Texas is like 430/week. It's not a hand out, it's literally your money that you worked for and paid taxes to have.

Also man, get on food stamps. Every little bit helps! Even if it's just 200 a month! Have you gone to your local unemployment office? If not, go, fill out a profile and start applying everywhere man!!!

Best of luck to you. Being laid off sucks!!

You have no income and your down to your last. It's hard but man it's time to swallow your pride until you can get back on your feet.

Would you move to Geismar?

I could maybe get you in something environmental(testing) in July/August, but what's the lowest you'll accept for the first 6 months?

Like others have said, file for unemployment... I did it (didn't want to at first for the same reasons you don't) but swallow your pride and do it

Cork is a good friend of mine. I know he has been in a tough spot for awhile. Wish I was in a position to help him myself. I know he is only reaching out to TD in attempt to exhaust all options

My parents live in Walker, so that's not a problem.

Are we talking a rotating schedule like 7/7 or 14/14, or a regular 40-hour workweek? I was making close to six figures at my last job, but that was working 90+ hours per week with virtually no days off. I would have no issue with humbling myself and taking lesser pay.

Sounds like some good leads already from the td.Com baws. Also please go file unemployment today. Even a 3 or 4 hundred a week check will help bridge the gap until you land on your feet. You earned that benefit.

Do you have to file online or are there actual unemployment offices you can go into?

I don't have internet (phone excluded), and no scanner or anything to send a copy of my most recent tax forms that they want.

damn. Nice to see all the support. With all the ranting, hardly knew the td.com has so many that care. Nice

i like to think most of the people on TD are decent human beings that just use the board to spew vitriol and sarcasm that they try to keep inside in the normal world

its cathartic
