I've always done my burgers outside on the grill. But I read a feature in WSJ's weekend section where these chefs said burgers were better in an iron skillet because you can get it hotter (500) and cook faster keeping in more juiciness.

Thoughts?

Griddle.

Nothing else is the same after you cook them on a griddle.

I much prefer flat top burgers to grilled burgers.

I enjoy both preparations. When I grill burgers I build a super hot charcoal fire and sear them on each side, then move to cooler part of the grill to finish. Also occasionally throw some smoking pellets in and close the lid for a couple of mins.

I like both. Just depends on my mood. Think I like a skillet burger a bit more. High heat gets that good crust. Sometimes, there's good bit of smoke and splatter, so be prepared. If you can get the skillet or griddle good and hot on your grill, you can make the skillet burger on that.

I prefer the stove top method. I actually made one for lunch today and just used a standard non-stick frying pan. It had a nice crust on both sides, and like others have said, I added cheese at the end and covered with a lid.
