After Dallas, it's a whole lot of nothing. I don't feel confident about winning any game when the Kid isn't on the bump.
I was concerned about our lineup as well. We barely limped into the playoffs with nearly every one of our hitters having career years.
Altuve
Valbuena
Gattis
Rasmus
Marwin
Conger
All those guys set their career high in home runs last year. Most of them are very streaky hitters who can't get above .240. Since we don't hit worth a damn situationally, we rely on homers. Our offense relied on a ton of career years that you can't count on replicating.

McHugh is a 4. And if we can get him back soon LMJ will make a nice 3 for this stage in his career.
We need a short term (2-3 year) #2.

Too late. We can't beat TX.

You're right hoohoo.
If Hudgens isn't gonna change these guys' approach, then it's time to look elsewhere.
It's also time to bring in your high contact hitting prospects.
We gotta turn this lineup over from home run or strikeout

Its possible that this might just be a lost year. Several holes in the lineup and below average pitching. We've got a solid group with Altuve, Correa and Springer. Jury is still out on White. With Moran, Reed and possibly Kemp on their way to fill the roles of some of these under performing vets.
There's a gap in pitching with Martes and Musgrove at AA but not quite ready yet. I don't think its a wise decision to rape the system again to get another Kazmir or Gomez that don't work out. We've got a young core of players with more talent on the way. The Rangers are old and their window is closing, The Angels are Mike Trout and nothing else. Mariners..who knows. We should be setting up for long term success within this division even if it means this year goes bust.

Let's toss up some ideas on pitchers we could/should add I like Dallas McCullers McHugh and fiers but I think we need to add someone between DK and Lance, Fister goes to long man and feldmen goes to Nova Scotia

Devo is going to need to get a shot. I'm not sure we've got immediate options waiting at AAA (outside of garbage like Peacock). We can't afford a giant trade anymore. I saw someone the other day mention Julio Teheran of the Braves. He's still just 25 though and has shown some upside before so the Braves might ask a lot for him.
Tyson Ross of the Padres would have been a pricier target but he's out with shoulder issues and is out several weeks at a minimum. Andrew Cashner might be a buy low guy.

Pretty unlucky with Kid K-- usually when you get 4+ runs for him, that's a W.
If the Astros are a stock, I'm saying Buy, baws. Our division blows this year, so do not give up hope yet. McCullers probably back in the fold and at full speed come June.

And it takes time for talent to come up, adjust and lead a team to the playoffs.
Fielder is 32
Beltre 37
Moreland 30
Choo 34
Desmond 30
Hamels 32
The guys winning ballgames for the Rangers right now are old and their window for winning with these players is closing. And they've still got $246 million committed to 3 players 32 or older between now and 2020.
They've got a talented farm system, but its not like they'll immediately step in and and wreck shite as the old guys break down and retire. I see the Rangers as having a window to compete this year and next and then having a down year or 2 while the farm system starts to fill out the major league club.

Colby is our old guy at 29

I agree with this, but I'd have reed at first and white at dh. All reports are that reed is better defensively than many give credit.

there's a good blend of young and old. None of those guys are retiring soon. The young will transition in with the old over the next few years and they wont fall off like you say they will.

As long as Daniels is in charge with these hands-off big money owners the Rangers are here to stay.
Jerry could learn a lesson.
The ownership of Houston is just silly now though. I mean it's baseball and your supposed to lose occasionally.
