Great QBs whose career suffered from awful coaching

Phillip Rivers for sure.

The first QB who comes to mind for me is Randall Cunningham. He had Buddy Ryan (who blatantly didn't give a shite about offense) and Rich Kotite as his head coaches for the first ten years of his career. If he had been placed in a better situation with a coach that would have nurtured his skills better, he would have been a first ballot HOF QB.

Meh. Rivers has been a top 5-10 QB in the NFL for a while now

All Cleveland QBs in the Super Bowl era.

Biggest disappointment of a QB in a long time. Dude's had so many coaches and has given the same result each and every time.

Kerry Collins, but then again he caused some of the bad coaching by his own actions by being released.

Will never know...but David Carr I thought had potential to be special.

I agree from a team accomplishment standpoint. He's still had a great career statistically though

Would you blame it on coaching or bad teams with Carr?

Coaching made the decision to start him day 1. I blame them for throwing their prize possession behind that OL.
It is like Rocky not throwing in the towel and having Apollo killed.

I wouldn't call him a "great" QB, but I think Alex Smith, had he not been drafted by the 49ers, would have much better numbers.
Aaron Rodgers should thank his lucky stars the Niners didn't draft him that year. He would be in the same boat as Smith, trying to establish a solid career nearly past his prime.

I agree Carr "might have been"
Andre Ware, Detroit was a clusterfrick under Fontes
