Awful coaching doesn't get the the AFC playoffs multiple times. Rivers shouldn't be anywhere near this list. Now the coaching they have now is awful.

That's interesting. I think the Leos were running Mouse Davis/June Jones run n shoots back then, which I think would have been Ware's best bet to succeed. Either way, those late '80's/early '90's squads had some talent even beyond Barry that was squandered. On the flip side, you could say that the franchise has never seen the success it did under Cocaine Wayne.
This thread also begs the question of how Leslie Edwin Miles' QBs would have done elsewhere.

quote:what could have been, I think the lost opportunities is a big reason Barry left early, after all the wasted talent and time why believe any good trends would stick.

Wasn't as much coaching as it was getting murdered behind a shite line and getting hooked on pain pills to deal with it.

Andrew Luck.
He's carried that offense through the playoffs despite some questionable play calling.

Troy Aikman staying at Oklahoma would have been unfortunate. Transferring to UCLA was a career saver.

quote:7 OCs in 8 years, most of them inept. Only one full year of play with a decent HC. Mostly shite QB coaches. Shitacular offensive roster to boot.
I wouldn't call him a "great" QB, but I think Alex Smith, had he not been drafted by the 49ers, would have much better numbers.
