ps. I'm not sure if anyone orders drinks at la Boca, but their bartenders should be fired. I had the single worst old fashioned I've ever had and S/o had an equally bad gin cocktail. Just an FYI...
So I should fire my staff because you had a bad drink?
Seems sensible.
Did you send the drink back and have it corrected?
I've got three bartenders with 17 years combined at Boca. Three of the best, most compassionate, loyal people I've ever had the pleasure to work with.
...and I should fire them because of your bad drink.
Gotcha.

I had a rough dinner at Boca a month ago. Table of 7 and everyone was feeling bad shortly after dinner.
Feeling bad? The odds of 7 people feeling bad after dinner is very low. Did y'all all eat the same thing?
I've been to La Boca 4 times and every time has been great. It's one of my favorite places in the city.

Primitivo is worth a couple of visits.
Best items that I have tried have been the bone-in ribeye with marrow bone, the porkchop, the ember-cooked shrimp and the fried duck wing confit (though I haven't tried the above mentioned charcuterie). Chicken was a low point - for my taste it took on too much smoke and ate like oddly shaped pork. A side of field peas can be worth fighting over one day when they are soft and creamy or entirely skippable when they are underdone and dry.
Good service - laid back but attentive.
One thing to note is the smell of the hearth smoke. It is not unpleasant or overwhelming while you are in the restaurant but it will cling to your clothes for a bit after you leave.

I had one two weeks ago. It was outstanding.
Had a great wine w/ dinner. Keep up the great work.

Spoke with two of them while at the bar. We reminisced about the watermelon drinks. Can't wait for their return.

If it's just two people, consider Gautreaus at some point for a special occasion. Probably the most expensive meal you can find in town, but worth it.
Kenton's is way too far; it's almost in 70118.

Still trying to figure out how anyone would go to La Boca and not order 2 or 3 Pisco Sours to kick things off.
Pisco Sours, provoleta, sweet breads, hanger mid rare, bottle of malbec cab blend, fries. End out with something high octane.
This isnt rocket science.

Love the downvote on that post.
So much butthurt on this board.

Especially in this warmer weather, one needs to be light and airy whenever possible. A pisco sour bring the thunder but under a banner of peace and lime refreshment.
In fact, might need to make one tonight.

Hey Chef
I was being a little hyperbolic on the drinks. I'm not literally calling for anyone's job over an old fashioned that was too sweet. Now, all that experience behind the bar had never heard of a Southside. No one's perfect.
Like I said, it wasn't boca' best night. I've been 7-10x and it was my only visit with any real complaints.

When you want to comment about your experience and include it as an "FYI", that's not hyperbole.
You did call for my staff's jobs. Literally.
We get calls for goofy drinks from time to time. Southside has mint in it and we don't carry that anyway.
Just because someone hasn't heard of it doesn't ever discount their experience in what they do.
I appreciate your patronage but it is a two way street.

Love La Boca.
Let's not have Smokehouse 2.0, thanks.

La Boca. I didn't care for Cavan. Great atmosphere, and the drinks were good, but the food just fell short.

After all this kenton's talk, I sent their link to my mil (no pics) who decided to book her husband's bday party there in a few weeks.
I'll report back afterwards.
