In a horrible draft. They could just as easily not add a superstar.
Twolves have the 5th best odds. They could just as easily "add a superstar" to a much more complete roster.

This is said every single year. Some years it really isn't good. Some years it's insanely good.

And boston has 3rd best.

Minny has one pick total.

No it isn't. Literally no one said that about last year's draft. No one will say it about next season's.

Boston has double the chances as Minny.
Isn't how this works. Boston could easily land a top 3 pick, miss on it, and the Twolves hit on their top 5 pick. Darko ring a bell?

Cool so they have a good chance to add more role players to their team of role players

Minnesota has the last two #1 picks ALREADY on their team.
Boston has a nice roster but I would much rather be in Minnesota's position right now. Stevens is great...they could have Pop and I'd still prefer Wiggins, Towns, Levine and a likely top 5 pick.

Timberwolves
1. All this talk about stockpiling picks really come down to two picksworth a shite. 1. This year's first and next year's that they can swap with new Jersey for their own. There is no JO, KP or KAT in this draft. There isn't even a wiggings, who I really do not like. This year they will get them pick, Dallas first and new Jersey first Philly 2nd. That's basically Kris Dunn, Damian Jo es andr
thon maker. Yawn.
2. The only way they are guaranteed to come out like bandits is if new Jersey sucks next year get the first and. Boston swaps. They can get Josh jackson or giles and the 98 2000 euro class will be the best ever when It's all said and done there are some bonafied superstars that will be coming over. Starting with bender the first 98 year born euro prospect. But mostnwont bit til next year and year after. It's so good that 2018 draft c the top 3 could and probably will be all Euros
3. For your draft picks to have deal value you have to use them well. If I give you 10 first overalls I. A row and you spend tnem all on Anthony Bennett lol they really aren't worth sbit
So let's look at the Celtics recent draft history
1. Terry rozier-garbage
2. R.j hunter- hot garbage
3. Jordan Mickey - serviceable backup big man
4. Marcus Thornton - who?
5. Marcus smart - will never make all star team but elite perimeter defender
6. James young - fricking blows
7. Lucas n - drafted in 2013. 8 career points. Guy picked right after him?Dennis Schröder. Guy picked right before him?Giannis Antetokounmpo
The fact of the matter is Danny Angie sucks donkey dick when it comes to player evaluation. He inherited Paul Pierce. His speciality is trades not drafting. The Celtics could have the following roster if he was half decent at drafting
Dennis Schröder
Rodney hood
Zach lavine
Jared Sullinger
Avery Bradley (whiteside was available but that's a stretch)
Deandre jordan
Basically if he doesn't trade the picks for a superstar those picks are about as valuable as Auburn's recruiting rankings every year
In 13 years he's never drafted an all star or a guy that has made any all NBA teams. He has drafted one guy to make an all defensive team, Tony Allen and of course, traded him before he hit his peak again because ainge doesn't know what the frick he is doing. What makes you think he is going to do anything he hasn't done in the past
4. If Minnesota called and offered every last lick they have over the next 5years for KAT ainge would have the paperwork done before he let them off the phone, light up a Cuban cigar and jump for joy and every fan in Minnesota would kill the Timberwolves front office. That alone should tell you who is in a good position
5. There are obviously a lot of people who have never watched a t wolves game because the t wolves have two future superstars on their team and neither is named Andrew Wiggins. There is s fricking reason Ricky rubio is in the news every other day saying he doesn't expect to be traded

they've been pretty successful with a team full of role players.
I dont dislike Minn but y'all are definitely falling for the "shiny thing" mantra.
The bigger picture with Boston is they'll likely move assets to add a nice player to go along with whoever they sign in free agency as well as draft.

These 2 teams are in completely diff stages right now... Hard to say which 1 has a brighter future because of that.
Minnesota arguably has the best young core in basketball with KAT, Wiggins, Lavine, Dieng, etc, etc. and they have another early draft pick as well. They should keep getting better and better over the next few years and could become a very good team. But there's so much time between now and then and so many things could happen that could potentially derail them becoming a legit team.
Boston has already been to the playoffs these last 2 seasons and have a great coach in Stevens. While they don't have a star player right now, they have a lot of solid players and a boat load cap space this offseason along with like 8 draft picks this year, which includes a potential top 3 pick, #16 and #22 overall. They've got The assets + cap space that allow them the opportunity to be extremely active during free agency and in the draft. If they can get 1 of the top free agents in the offseason and add some good players in the draft, they could take that next step and go from a playoff team to a legit contender in a short period of time.
Minnesota has more room to improve considering they won like 29 games this past season, while Boston won 48 games this year and is the #5 seed in the East. A lot harder to go from the #5 seed to an elite team than it is to go from a 29 win team to a team that makes the playoffs.
But Boston has the cap space + draft picks to get a very good player, maybe even 2 or 3. And it's an attractive franchise for free agents because it's the Celtics and because of Brad Stevens. Minnesota already has a nice young group, and another early draft pick, but it remains to be seen how good that group could be. KAT is a stud, that's for sure, and Wiggins has had a nice season. But it remains to be seen how good that team can potentially be considering it's so far down the road ( a lot of things can happen) and we have no idea who they will hire as a coach. Plus, it's Minnesota.
I'm saying Boston for now. Mainly because of the cap space + draft picks. And I trust Boston, Brad Stevens, and Danny Ainge way more than I trust Minnesota. But I still think Minnesota has a very bright future and love the young talent they have. Especially KAT.

You say some dumb shite occasionally, but this one has to be near the top.
The guy who was first team All-NBA last season is not a role player. Conley is a borderline all-star/top 5 PG in the league. ZBo has never been damn role player in his career.

had a career year.
Otherwise he is a 14/7 Center who plays good defense. Hardly a center piece.
Isaiah Thomas is better than Mike Conley
You're really going to sit here and act like Memphis hasn't thrived on just having a collection of some pretty good, but not great players?

Boston just won 48 games. Tied for the 7th most wins of any NBA team

Such an absolute moron. Not even going to waste my time talking to you about Gasol because I would rather dip my balls in a blender.

You might be the only person who pretends to know anything about the NBA that would actually think this. Conley would be a damn perennial All-Star if he played in the East.
quote:
You're really going to sit here and act like Memphis hasn't thrived on just having a collection of some pretty good, but not great players?
Yes. Memphis has thrived a very good core 4 of players, one of which is definitely a roleplayer in TA but has been one of the best in the league at that role.
quote:

And will likely never do much better than that until the obvious holes in their roster are filled. They feel like some of Thibs' Chicago teams. They just got by during the season by playing harder than teams on a nightly basis, but won't really accomplish much once the games matter.
Posted on 4/18/16 at 10:32 pm to Lester Earl
The shiny thing mantra? Every year, it's "you have to have a superstar to win in this league"
The Hawks will never do shite without a superstar, right? Why will the Celtics? When deciding who is in the better position, I'll take the team with 2 superstars over the one with 0.

cause they just won 48 games with a few decent players. And they are in line to have a huge offseason. I dont see why that is hard to grasp.

KAT looks to be really good, i wouldnt call Wiggins a superstar. I guess he could be one.

explain to me why you think Mike Conley is better than Isaiah Thomas.
At worst they are equals, but give me Thomas scoring prowess and ability to get to the line.

you(homer) and RonBurgundy are the only 2 peole Ive ever heard consider Gasol a superstar. All NBA team, woooo hoo! Let's not sit here and pretend that being on an all NBA team means that you are a super star.
14pt/7reb career averages says otherwise.

Brooks guided OKC to 3 WCF in 4 years and a Finals appearance.
Nearly got them to the playoffs without a top 3 player last year when the West was deep as hell.
