Kids at restaurants with electronic devices

I just saw a family at a table with both kids(roughly 8 & 10)watching a show, one on an iPad, other on iPhone...with overear headphones. Basically the whole time.
How fricked up will some of these kids be?
Eta: I have a 6 & 3 year old

Probably so they won't act up keep them occupied

They will be fine. Just because they are using devices at the resturaunt, it does not mean it is 24/7. It's just the parents trying to enjoy a nice meal without the kids running around the resturaunt like little jackasses.
Just another example of people without kids having no fricking clue about parenting.

Restaurants have been giving kids crayons and shite for years, this is just a modern version of that IMO.

You would probably be bitching if the kids were being loud.

Except I have 2 kids so....
Also they were probably 8 & 10, not 2, they don't need crayons.

So sorry they ruined your Applebee's experience.
Go somewhere else if you don't want to see well behaved kids entertain themselves while they wait patiently for their food.

They watched it the entire time. It was quite amazing.

That was probably threeputt and his family eating out for the 11th time this week. He keeps the kids on lockdown after getting in a fight at Ruby Tuesday last week.

frick that. Learn to have a conversation with your kids. Amazing how mature they become when you expect them behave a certain way. It is called parenting. My kids are never allowed to have their iPads in a restaurant, ever. Parents who let their kids play on the iPads in restaurants suck, period.

Haha, we'll forgive my assumption. We take the kids out to eat once a month. If I did not give my seven year old something to keep him occupied he would burn the place down. At home it's pretty much under 30 minutes of tv/electronics per day though.

I've seen kids play on phones and it's like ok, whatever, but to basically just cut them off from the world like that seemed odd. The parents did look like they hated each other.

How am I supposed to enjoy my potato skins and jalapeño poppers?

The kids sound mature. Acting like a couple of 20 year olds

There's a middle ground between letting them run wild and having them locked into Netflix. Could always, you know, talk to them. Whatever, though. It's not something that gets me upset when other parents do it, but we don't allow electronic devices at the dinner table.

I'd rather take a pick ax to the forehead than go to a restaurant with my kids... The only way it's semi-bearable is because the DVD player/phone/etc.
Hopefully it won't screw them up any worse than they already are

Why are you staring at kids weirdo

There are a lot of parents who hardly ever get to eat out AND have a relatively quiet dinner together. They probably looked like they hated each other because they are exhausted and just wanted an opportunity to not be parents for once, without having to pay for a babysitter to do it.
In actuality, there's a decent chance they are just mediocre parents. However, don't judge them based off of one night in a restaurant on a Friday night.

I'm a parent and that's horse shite. My kids behave in restaurants without the need for a tablet and headphones because I'm not a lazy arse who takes the easy way out when teaching my kids how to be respected human beings.

Are you serious? Your 7 year old can't behave in a restaurant without a device? I get occupying 3,4,5 yr olds(although I'm a fan of crayons & coloring books and engaging the child about what their drawing etc instead of letting them ignore everyone while they watch Frozen or whatever), but a 7 yr old? A 7 yr old should be able to behave for an hour or two. I was regularly eating at nice restaurants by 7 with my family. It's really no wonder all these kids have ADHD. It's lazy parenting too.
