I went to the keys, Cozumel, and off the coast of Puerto Vallarta in the pacific. The pacific had the best sea life but the coolest reefs we're by the keys

Does not compute. No really. Snorkeling is downright miserable after you have been diving for years. Not fighting to breathe through a tube and being limited to the surface is more than enough for me to switch.

Yeah.....I will never go diving again. I got too panicky under water. Would freak out and want to shoot up to the surface. Was too busy thinking of the million different ways I could die underwater to enjoy being underwater. Seriously:....I would end up killing myself if I tried diving again. I mainly got certified because my husband wanted us to dive on our honeymoon. I never looked forward to any of the dives and instead would look forward to being back on land or on the boat.

I'll stick to snorkeling. When I feel the claustrophobia taking hold of me and I feel all panicky.....I just pop my head up and take a breath.

Certified Padi in 78 also. Had US Divers tank and regulator. Equipment was very basic. I lived in Crystal River, FL and took lessons in the main spring after work once a week. Enjoyed it but haven't been diving in years.

Certified SSI open water in 1997
Naui master diver 2004

Made plenty trips to the wrecks off Panama City FL. Two 5 day trips to Cozumel
Maybe a dozen spear fishing dives to the rigs in South Timbalier and ship shoal.

Favorite place was Cozumel since the visibility was 100 + feet.

Haven't been an active diver in years though.

That's just me.

I'm not scared of it, I just don't care to do it.

Different strokes, there's somebody who likes this flavor-

If I were you I would get basic snorkel gear and go that route. Will save you mucho dinero and you can see if you enjoy it before jumping all in.

Got my certification in 2012 and got Eanx certified in 2014.

I've logged dives in the Maldives, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, BVI's and panhandle of Florida.

Maldives was by far the best, we got to see a giant manta on two different occasions and did some night diving as well as a shark feeding frenzy at night . Second would be the Cayman's, the swim throughs in the coral are awesome.

You may want to brush up on your rescue certs. That little stunt you pulled with the little kid could've gotten someone killed. It almost looked like you weren't even trying.

Open water certified in 1996 with Sea Dwellers in Key Largo. Did like 6 dives on here with my dad. Took off 20 years due to being inland and not yet wanting to lake dive.
Took a trip to Coz this April and did 2 dives. Forgot how much fun it is and how amazing the sights are. Saw a 8 ft spotted eagle ray and followed him for about 5 minutes.
I would r commend Papa Hogs as your shop in Coz. They were great

Not me but I have my Grandpa's NOGI award from the 60's...pretty cool.

That is WAY cool
Just in case you all aren't aware, NOGI is from the old annual New Orleans Grand Isle spearfishing rodeo.

The NOGI award/tropihies were hand carved from wood are were and are still collector's items.

Been OW certified since 2014. Probably have 10 dives logged since. Have done Belize, Oahu, Cancun, Florida Keys.

Actually went on first bad dive I'd been on since I'd been certified. Let go of rope too early and got caught in a pretty strong current and was getting pushed away from the group. As soon as I got down below and made it back went straight up to the boat. Conditions were above my experience in retrospect. Not a fun experience.

Went on a easy drift dive before I left to get my comfort level back.

Been certified for 24 years, but many years of little/no activity. Had a huge run of certs and dives at one point many years ago when I had plenty of time and money, getting up to Rescue Diver.

With family and work demands, it's been a couple years since I went and pretty sporadic for several years before that, but I'd love to be able to start going again consistently. Maybe when the kiddos get a little older.
