MessageMore beer pleaseWhat's the real plan for the basketball staff and recruitingquote: Louisiana is not a great state for basketball talent. Link We are 6th most with 15 current NBA players (as of 2015). We are 2nd behind DC (shouldnt count) in per capita. Baton Rouge has 6 NBA players alone and ranked the 7th highest city while having the smallest population by far in the top 15. The talent is there, it's just not attending LSU anymore.

And just what do you think is causing this ? Like the other poster said, just sit back & enjoy the ride. The process will be speeded when the turnout for the games is about 1,000. The same holds true for football. Those empty seats will work when all else fails.

No.

He has coached a long time. He is just a trash coach, end of story.

Only thing we as fans can do is not waste money going to the games. I hate not supporting our kids in person but you know what they say about omelettes and eggs.

Well, Simmons did finish 33rd in the country (2nd in the SEC) in turnovers per game: 3.36 for all games; 3.75 for conference games.

I dont get the people who still rag on Simmons like he wasn't the best freshman we'll ever have here.

OMGz over 3 turnovers a whole game when played a ton of minutes! No way! Totally negates him throwing down almost 20 points and 12 boards a game. If we had better players on his level a lot of those turnovers would have turned into assists.

I was just giving the numbers. You can interpret them however you want.

Dissecting the numbers a bit more, in his last 8 games, he had 4.75 turnovers per game. Sorry, but even for a guy who handles the ball a lot, that's bad.

That rate would've put him first in the country in TOs.

Gotta realize the offense has very little structure it's hard for underclass men to be greatly efficient with the ball plus Simmons in particular was playing out of position all year. I was amazed he did what he did considering how little the coaching helped the players.

No plan. Just continued mediocrity to below mediocrity, cheap coaching hires one after the other. Squeak into the NCAA every so often and lose in the first round. Just enough for whatever mediocre coach we have to keep his job for one more year. That's pretty much the LSU basketball program until King and Alleva are gone and Dale Brown is justs watching instead of influencing the coaching hire.

Alleva is from duke you'd think he'd know something about basketball. Makes you wonder who is actually calling the shots. Is it him or is it brown and temple either way things arnt good right now and a change needs to be made before it's too late and coach sinks us completely

Other than injuries, this is absolutely a poor excuse as well. Hornsby a senior, Gray a senior, Quarterman a junior, Malone a junior...there were plenty of upper classmen on this team to go along with what was an INCREDIBLE freshmen pull in Simmons, Blakeney & Sampson. Teams win with freshmen all the time in the new college basketball, much less than the miss-mash of young talent and experience we had.

Malone is trash. Grey is out of control. Quarterman was extremely inconsistent. Hornsby was solid. But still, your point isn't very valid when most of the difference makers(Simmons, Blakeney, Victor) had never played together. We mainly used 8 and 9 player rotations, if that, so I don't understand how we were an experienced squad. Blakeney was extremely raw and didn't start putting it together until the end of the year, and Sampson was a pretty big disappointment based on his expectations.

Gray should've been our starter 19-10 with him .655 win pct 22-15 without him starting .594% it was again that's on jones he has no clue our players were fine and we had plenty experience duke won it all last year with 3 freshman starters and 4 new starters in the lineup one of which was dismissed from the team mid-season so you could say 5 experience is no excuse for this team
