We had a terrible season this year and I'm pretty sure it's affected recruiting negatively. We don't have a full staff and we lost our best recruiter in David Patrick. I honestly believe the staff is falling apart because they don't really see anything they can learn from Johnny jones truthfully. We all saw a team that couldn't break down a 2-3 zone on multiple occasions and that's bad for a college basketball team. I wish we could have went after Dan Majerle from Grand Canyon.

My source who's a big time booster says Alleva is meeting with John Wooden and Red Aurbach this coming week. If neither one happens, then expect Phil McGroine or Barry McCockinya to be our guy.

hire anyone who wants to be on a staff where you show up everyday and STFU and watch JJ 'coach'..have about a .500 SEC league record, bubble NIT team, staff gets fired in March.

I was able to observe a basketball practice early in the season. The practice I watched was during thanksgiving break. I was very disappointed in the intensity at the practice. They did not show any effort. The hardest working person was Hornsby and he was on the side rehabbing his injury. I have seen more intense in biddy practices. With that said, I truly think Coach Jones will be gone after next year. The program will be in shambles and will have to be rebuilt.

Thanks for clarifying who this Dan Majerle person is! He coaches at Grand Canyon though but you still did a good job since most basketball fans would have no idea who he was.

His staff had been in shambles every year. He's hired 2 guys who never coached a practice (Forrest and Treloar) and had two guys leave after one year (Kirby and Musselman).

He just sucks at everything.

Really scared of where we are headed I've been watching this team since 89 and even when the sanctions came down after dale I think we were in better shape than what's going on right now coach is in over his head and this year really exposed him

What's the draw for a player to come to LSU?

What's the draw for an assistant coach to come to LSU?

Even more reason Alleva should have cleaned house. At least that would have created some optimism.

Yea my bad i meant Grand Canyon. You're right a lot of people do not know who he is but he is a hell of a coach.

This is just horseshite and this thread is questionable too. Dale Brown had 4 straight losing seasons when the sanctions came down (Jones has never even had one). He kept recruiting awful foreigners and the team sucked. Both coaches after him went up and down, posting horrible seasons as well. We are not in that bad of shape.

I keep saying this and I hope I'm right, this team is not going to be that bad next year. The recruiting class has some nice players that could/should be contributors. The staff will work itself out. I'm not sure why everybody is freaking out about basketball assistants anyway. This is the kind of team that Jones thrives with (smaller, faster and with less expectations).

I'd say he's not going to get fired. But we fired the last two coaches after winning seasons too..

Well it's even stupider if you think Jones has tenure as coach.

The class has nice players? Where? Mays is ok but far from a star this juco center we have avged 6pts and 5rebs a game in juco!! We have no front line we have no depth all we can hope for is blakeney coming back and having a huge year and even that doesn't promise wins we'd need Sampson epps and Robinson to make huge strides for that to happen. Yes I agree with you we haven't hit bottom like the end of dales run but we are on the edge of the cliff staring into the abyss
