Bootlegger has forgotten more about turf management than I'll ever know. If that guy gives you advice take it.

That yard doesnt look too bad. The first thing you need to do is have patience. That wont clear up in 6 months. In fact it may take 2 more seasons. Do the post emergant per instructions on bag.
Next year, start early with pre-emergant and cut your grass weekly in Feb-March even if it doesnt look like you are cutting anything. This chops the early weed sprouts down, keeping weeds and undesirables from growing further and spreading or getting mature. Late spring, the grass will over take weeds.
Jan-March is when you prevent weeds for the entire season.

That was intended for the guy who said "sail your trailer"

Start off with 24-d. Don't spray round up. Looks like mostly broadleaf weeds and poa annua which will die with warmer temps. Kill the broadleafs and fertilize that shite.
Correct, I would do this and likely hit it next spring with a weed and feed early, reapply 2,4-D if required.
Much easier than replacing what you have

First pic looks like Virginia button weed. We have that shite everywhere and spend a good deal of time each spring killing it off

Thanks for all the responses

honestly, that just looks like winter weeds to me...they will all die as soon as the temps warm up a bit. I would just keep them mowed and soon the summer grasses will come out of dormancy and take over for the rest of the year.
if you just want to kill them for the hell of it, spray a couple of doses of 2,4-D...

I'm totally against weed and feed products. Kill the weeds first then feed your desirable grass. When my bermuda is 50 percent green in the spring I apply first round of a high nitrogen fertilizer. Make sure it gets a minimum of 1 inch of water a week, then fertilize again 6-8 weeks later. Make sure you water regularly in heat of the summer, a stressed lawn is more apt to develop weeds. Fall pre emergent of Barricade in mid October to prevent winter weeds the spring pre emergent of Demension in mid February to prevent crabgrass and other summer weeds.

I switched from Simazine to Specticle this past fall...man has it done a hell of a job. The ball fields are as clean through this winter as ever, and still holding strong. Simazine worked well for the poa, but allowed some swinecress and a few other weeds to pop up in late spring. The Specticle hasn't allowed shite to come up.

What would you reccomendations use on st aug?
My lawn looked worse than his 2 years ago, it's not bad today after using atrazine/weed free zone and spot treating

I'm still battling torpedo grass every year. Msma knocks it back for about 4 weeks then it comes back. It truly is the Devils weed. You heard anything new to treat it with boot?
Posted on 3/21/16 at 9:51 pm to HailToTheChiz
I would smoke it with roundup and spread some river sand on it. Let the Bermuda grass take it over.

If you are going to spray a selective herbicide and want to save the lawn, use a mower with a bagger to capture the weed seed heads. Don't use river sand for any of your repairs. It usually has tons of weeds in it.

Burn your lawn off.... Call a company that does that. Your yard will be the greenest in your neighborhood in two weeks.
