Bingo!! LSU, and Michigan are 2 of the most prestigious, and successful programs in cf history, and they're both sitting on their hands, and letting fate decide the most important job of 100 million dollar cash cow.

I agree...it's the most ridiculous thing that I've ever heard. What multi-million dollar business would know that its top manager would want to leave their company if an opportunity came open at a certain company; write a buyout clause into his contract; then not be actively searching for and interviewing candidates at the time of that specific job opening?

It just sounds stupid. The people saying this are the same ones that will want to gut Skip if they waited too long and we lose recruits or lose out on another top notch coach b/c we waited until after all the smoke clears to begin the coaching search.

OK, if you must know, it WAS Jesus Christ.

That's not true. I talked to him and he said the only school he was involved with was Notre Dame and that he recently has revoked his fanhood from them. He muttered something about gluttony and a haughty spirit, but it wasn't real clear.

He said if we want him to get involved in our coaching search we'd better get a touchdown Jesus.

I heard that when Notre Dame lost the last game they woke up the next day and Touchdown Jesus was displaying the "no good" sign. They had to re-do it.

because you received your info from George Bass. Just go ahead and admit it

Very likely. We know Belowpar lives in Dallas (from chicken) and we know George Bass is a Dallas based agent. Add to that the fact that Belowpar has said repeatedly that his source is close to Miles and the obvious source is his agent, Bass.....Now the question is whether or not his agent would give out complete information at this sensitive point in negotiations. Could he be leaking "Miles is close to re-signing with LSU" info to up the ante from Michigan? Probably not, only because I doubt UM is reading this thread

I can agree, but on one point I am not so certain. The assumption is that Mich wants Les Miles. I can find some fan enthusiasm, and some fan dismay at the prospect. I can find former player comments that support him, but an equal number that don't. I can find where his friends at Mich support him, and where important people at Mich don't. But none that have a say in the matter, have ever said that Les was their guy.

Neither Lloyd during his retirement presser nor Bill Martin in his few public comments has ever said that Les was the guy. They have never, ever said that the next hire had to be a Mich Man. In fact Lloyd said that Mich has had its greatest success with non-Mich men (Yost-KS, Crisler-OH-Wesleyn, and Bo-Miami of OH). And that may be the best indicator of where this is headed.

Only the media has ever put Mich and Miles together. That's it! Just because Miles like the school, played there and loves the school doesn't mean that those are the criteria Mich has for their new coach. And even if Miles said he wanted the job, Mich doesn't have to give it to him. There just seems to be a false premise here that doesn't fit with what is going on. If Mich wanted Miles, this would be done, so why isn't it?

Maybe they don't want him. Maybe the interview is actually Bill Martin telling Les personally, rather than lobbing it through the media, that he is not going to be the guy.

You may ask, why didn't Mich say that when Lloyd retired and save LSU all the turmoil. Mich wasn't responsible. Lloyd retired and the media stuck a microphone in Miles face, got an emotional reaction and ran from there. It wasn't Mich's problem to clean that up. It was Les's. And now, IMHO, that he has settled down, and Mich has had a chance to thoughly vet their real candidate list, where he may have/likely was discussed, Bill Martin is being sent to tell him the truth, personlly and in private. He will not be Mich's next coach. That is why there is not a timeframe next week for the discussion, it is not on Mich's critical path to its next coach.

Meechigan doesn't go about things like that, don't you know? Trueblue was here to let us know that UM has just now formed a search commitee and doesn't wheel and deal behind the scenes like us southern folk.

Read the fan pages and the newspaper (Detroit/Ann Arbor) forums and the views are mixed. Some want Miles, some want Brian Kelly, some want Paul Johnson, some want Jeff Tedford, etc. It is what you would expect of fans, they are all over the place.

When Lloyd announced his retirement, same thing with players and former coaches who were interviewed on TV or in print. All said good things about Carr, had mixed reactions to Miles.

John Wangler (QB under Bo in the Anthony Carter era and close Miles friend, was in his wedding party) is effusive in his praise. But Lloyd, and his staff are vocal opponents of Les.

Cam Cameron as well likes Miles, but both left when Lloyd got the HC gig, Lloyd (unlike Bo and Moeller) did not like strong personalities and opinons among his assts. That is why he only hires his friends (and why none of our assts. is ever on a short list for HC elsewhere -- they are loyal, but not necessarily the best coaches).

Mike Tergovac, middle guard for Bo and current Carolina Panther DC, loved Bo, is cool to Lloyd and is a candidate himself for the job, and is neutral on Les.

Mary Sue Coleman, UM Pres., hired Kirk Ferentz at Iowa, and Kirk became a close Bo associate. He gets along with Lloyd well enough but is the polar opposite of Les and the fans sure don't want him.

Tom Brady sent a letter in support of Mike Debord. Go figure!

Two former all Big Ten linemen under Miles, while he was at Michigan, one when Bo was HC and one when Moeller was HC, said publicly to the paper that they were not fans, that he was unfair in how he handled players overall, showed clear favoritism. That made it to print, and these were starters/conference first team selections, not back-ups.

It would be hard to follow now, because it has be ongoing since the spring. But all of this was public information.

The only consistent Miles advocate, other than his friends, is the media. And it's the media everywhere here and national. They seem to be pushing Miles and Mich together, even though that does not seem the path that is emerging from Mich thinking.

Actually, the advisory committe was formed and met Tuesday of this week for the first time. Heavy coverage in the papers here, but even they don't know who all is on the committee. They had some names, guesses, but no confirmations.

Nor do they know what was discussed by the committee.

Sorry I wasn't clear, that was rehtorical. I know Mich doesn't move that fast, which is why this isn't done yet. But, the prevailing opinion is that it was done some time ago, despite all eveidnce to the contrary. Plus anyone who knows Mich would know they will do things in their own time.
