me too but I like my yard to look good lol.

we used to live next door to my parents. They had 2 acres and I used to help my dad take care,of his 2 acres. I even bought a sweet Kubota zero turn. 4 years ago we moved to a bigger house Ina development. smaller yard but witha pool and lots of landscaping. We wound up keeping tthe lawn guy and housekeeper that were already there, I gave the mower, and all lawn equipment to him. My retirement t is well taken care of and we really enjoy the time to do other things. I grew up a slave to my parents yard and am over it. I'd rather mess with the pool, my cars or other projects I enjoy

Mowed mine today. The most important thing is that it was dry.

Why would an able bodied man pay someone else to cut their grass?

Time is money, bro...and if that time means more time with the family and less stress at the weekend, then that money spent is worth it..

Since my Father and Mother watch my nephew all week, and have since birth, my Mother feels guilty and cuts our grass for free. pulls weeds, will plant shrubs, etc

i try to pay her, she refuses to accept.

So i neither cut on weekends or weeknights

I like to cut Friday afternoon so it's fresh for the weekend. Makes me feel like I'm getting a jump on things.

I cut grass on the weekends and shovel snow when it happens.

I'm fixing to start paying myself even thou the wife loves to cut the yard. Why? Well, my yard is about 5 ac and pricing a new mower at 9K and having someone come in and cut it once a week that I was quoted a price of $60 a week, do the math.

Because I have a lot of hobbies. Especially during the summer when grass is growing fast

Depends. Sometimes I get it done when I can, based on the weather.

Most times, I do it when the bitching inside gets to my threshold.

I'm not a fan of cutting the grass. I mow the lawn instead.

Think of the money that could go towards your kid's college or a down payment on a rental property. You're wasting your money paying for these unwarranted services.

Think of the money spent of the aforementioned over a 25 year span and how it affects your retirement. You'll be astonished as to how much people waste on these two services.

Maybe, but how many less arguments will you have with your wife if neither of you have to clean the house daily?

FWIW, i mow my own grass because i like it. Not so much the weedeating part, but the mowing is fine with me. The payoff is finishing up, walking barefoot in the backyard and opening up a fresh beer and either sitting in the grass or on the deck, admiring your work on a hot saturday/sunday.

We pay for a maid because we both work, have a toddler, and we'd fight daily over who cleaned what if we did it ourselves. We are willing to pay the money for a housekeeper. She's worth it.
