Ok, I know it sounds kind of obvious but hear me out.

I've only been watching the college game this season. I don't think I've seen a full nba game till a couple of days ago. It made me realize how much of a subpar product college bball has become. Teams can't shoot. Teams can't pass. Hell, the nba game in watching now has more passionate defense than anything I've seen recently.

So why is it? Talent only accounts for so much. Is it the coaching? Is it the result of meddling with the rules? Etc

NBA players are like the top 1% of college players. Also the shorter shot clock helps

NBA is the best of the best. I would hope it would be better.

ETA: I wonder if the college game will go to quarters and a 24 second clock. The women's game has quarters.

the skill of a NBA player who is the 12th man on the bench is mind blowing. I've played 1 on 1, sort of goofing off, with guys who averaged 1 or 2 points a game in the NBA and the skill was amazing, almost impossible to get a shot off with how quick their hands are
Most people don't understand the difference or how truly skilled the NBA is

NBA teams can only have 13 players on the roster. 30 teams X 13 players, and your looking at less than 400 of the best players in the world. You have to be truly exceptional (maybe more than every other pro sport) to play in the NBA

It's all in the point guard play. CBB is so slow in comparison to the NBA.

Well...yeah

This guy:

Vassilis Spanoulis

Couldn't get a start for the Rockets. He's a god in Europe.

Andrei Kirilenko was over 30 and the best player in Europe.

Europe is way better than college, so of course the NBA is.

The NBA game is so much smoother. The shot clock is a big part of that. Teams get down the court, set a play, run the play, and take the shot. College will drag forever on the offensive end with people just standing around.

Often times undersized big guys too.
I suppose it is relative. Undersized compared to NBA level

College basketball is a bad product. Of course, the tourney is exciting because of the emotion and finality. But the actual product on the floor is not good. Poor shooting, poor fundamentals, and many times poor coaching. Agree on the point guard play and tempo being a huge part.

Makes you wonder if the college game has suffered because of the spoiled athlete. The D1 level college players are very talented and coddled throughout high school, but aren't NBA level, and make for a poor college game.

AAU has certainly help kill fundamentals with play style and kids aren't taught in their youth.

One factor is that every team is on tv now, which means you see a lot of the bad teams. Back in the days when it was one game a week, it was always good teams. There are still that many good teams, but the gazillions of shitty teams get exposure also.

The product hasn't gotten bad, or at least to the level it seems; we just see the shitty versions on it now that we have 8million channels.

Professional athletes are better than amateur athletes. Also, NBA athletes are a notch above pros all over the world. NFL/Mlb, for instance, have tons of fatties. Tom F'ing Brady was the SB MVP 2 years ago. Kawhi was the NBA Finals MVP. Biggest. Lulz. Ever.

The worst team in the NBA at the end of the day still consists of 100% NBA players. The best college teams consist of a few future NBA players, the rest are future insurance salesmen, accountants, and whatever other desk job you can imagine. The same applies to football. That's what makes those "could [insert good college team here] beat [shitty pro team here]?" Threads so hilariously stupid

The ball handling skills are amazing. Watching a play in game one year and the teams were fumbling the ball all over the place.

NBA players are better obviously. My only problem with professional sports is that the rules have been changed to where there is no defense. I hate that NBA players can play iso ball then just run in the lane, throw up a Hail Mary and get a foul. College at least calls charging and traveling.

My issue with Basketball is the one and done rule. They should allow high schoolers to go directly to the NBA if they can. If they don't, go to college for three years then you're eligible again. College basketball would get much better.
