Florida getting something right: FHP ticketing slow left lane drivers

I can't think of a bigger pet peeve of mine than this. Good on you, Florida, you horribly dysfunctional reality show of a state.

The Florida Highway Patrol is starting to crack down on motorists who drive too slow in the left lane.
A warning is now going up on highway billboards to notify drivers to move over a lane if they want to drive slower than the speed of traffic, our news partners at WPTV report.
"At least when people are speeding, they are focused," said FHP trooper, Nick Avgoulas, to WPTV.
Sgt. Mark Wysocky said to WPTV that while speeders are more obvious on the road, slow drivers can cause road rage and safety hazards.
"A lot of times what we see is the person that's driving slow also may be on their cellphone or is distracted," said Wysocky.
Now if drivers are pulled over for going too slow in a passing lane they could face a fine of more than $160.

Texas drivers are the fricking worst ever for clogging up the fast lane. They'll stay there from NOLA to Beaumont and not give a frick if they frick up a whole interstate system if it means they don't have to move the cruise control down or up from where they have it.

Somehow this will lead to a mobile meth lab explosion involving a teacher and student involved in an incestuous relationship.
Dear God I hope they catch it on dash cam.

Police invent yet another way to steal money from the populace. So if you are going the speed limit in the left lane is that possibly too slow? Shouldn't the other drivers get speeding tickets if they are going faster than the limit?

It is about the flow of traffic. If you can't keep up with the flow then get out of the way. It is a safety issue.

I feel like flow of traffic is code for lots of people speeding. They should get tickets. Not the guy going the speed limit.
Just another way for cops to declare reasonable cause, pull you over, harass you, and drop a $200 ticket on your arse.

frick speed limits to begin with.

Get your slow arse out of the passing lane. People defending those types are automatically garbage, human garbage.

I also agree with that. It's all just a money game.

Speaking as someone who has paid a LOT of speeding tickets, you have no idea what you are talking about. I'm just discussing this concept.
But I cannot fathom giving a too slow ticket to someone driving the speed limit. At that point it becomes a damned if you and damned if you don't scenario. I.e. An unconstitutional criminal law.

Do you really want to be in a mass of cars all going 70 mph? That's like restrictor plate racing. One big pile of vehicles waiting for an accident to happen - and it always does.

What about the mindless idiots that drive in the left lane going 5-10mph under the speed limit and are too damned oblivious to get out of the way or speed up cause they are on their cell phones?
The only thing that annoys me more than a left lane creeper is someone who rides right next to me or just off my back bumper in my blind spot.

I completely understand what you're talking about. You think this gives an already too powerful police force that focuses on taxation more ability to frick you over.
I'm saying get rid of some of the other bullshite, but this will be fantastic. Nothing causes me more anger than that dumbass who refuses to pass anyone blogging down traffic, and that kind of person should be beaten on the knees.
Now if we could ever pass an execution order on rubber neckers, I'd love driving.

Except that the law also states that the left lane is for passing. The actual speed one is driving at the time they're in the left lane is irrelevant if they aren't passing someone.
