No, this isn't some joke or comedy thread, I actually am considering getting this procedure done. I am 32 years old and at this point have pretty much decided that even if I ever do get married I have no interest in having children.

With that said, while I do enjoy sex I do a lot of times get nervous even with protection about the potential consequences. As I have gotten older (not old but beyond my 20s where you feel invincible) I have not had sex nearly as often (to be honest I haven't had sex in the last 2 years) out of the fear of getting the woman pregnant.

I look at a vasectomy as true sexual freedom, that I can then not even have to worry anymore. I wanted to get some opinions though on what you all think about it, especially from the female perspective as well as from the male perspective of anyone who has the procedure done.

From the female perspective, how would you look at a guy that you are considering or are already dating if he came out and said he had a vasectomy done? From the male perspective, if you have had the procedure, is there anything specific I should know about it? What are some things the average person considering the procedure might not think about but should?

I definitely thank you all for helping me with this very important personal decision.

32 seems young to me, but to each his own.

Many woman arent.having kids till their 30s, so you will limit your dating pool if you are sterile. (Assuming you are honest with them about having a.vasectomy)

Change thread title to make it longer, or it will be anchored

Quick procedure done in-office
Local anesthetic
Follow up in 3 months for sperm count check; wear condoms until then

Do not go in to do it unless you are without a doubt 100% sure you are ready to be barren. You are very young and have plenty of time to change your mind.

Risks/complications:

Sperm granuloma (happens more often than you would think; google some images of it. Can be uncomfortable/painful) and post-vasectomy pain syndrome (lasts maybe 2 weeks).

Before you edited it, it said you had sex 4 times in 2 years..did you think that editing and saying you haven't had sex in 2 years is less pitiful or more pitiful?

Which is it??!?!?

White people problems.

SMDH.

Before you cut the cord(s), you might want to make a couple of deposits under your name at the local sperm bank.(A great nickname for a trashy female, btw)

That way if you and a future SO ever want kids of your own you have an option.

Had mine at 32. Doctor's first three questions when he walked in for the consult was:

Do you have kids?
Are you married?
Does your wife know you're here?

I was able to answer yes to all three. Not sure what would happen if I said no.

I would say don't do it. Kids are great. Had my first unexpectedly when I was one month shy of 21. Scared out of my mind but when my daughter was born, it was, at the time, the greatest moment of my life. Couldn't imagine my life without my three kids. I believe having children is one of the most important things in life and women feel pretty strongly about it as well. You'll probably turn away a lot of women, even if they think they don't want kids too.

Pretty stupid decision to just get your rocks off without having to worry about getting someone pregnant.

If you have no interest in kids, don't worry about limiting your dating pool. You shouldn't be dating women who want them.

If you feel pretty strongly about not having them, go for it. It's nice not to have to worry.

My buddy had it done a few years ago and apparently it threw a clot into the testicles and the doctors had to go in and do a double amputation 3 days later. Says it's the most painful thing that's ever happened to him. Apparently it's a pretty common side effect

You can always get the vasectomy and lie and say you had some trauma and cant have kids. If you plan on leaving the swimmers at the sperm bank, it might throw a wrench in that lie though.

Make a sperm bank donation at least. You might change your mind about kids. I was the same way until I met my wife. I am glad I was wrong because I love my kids.

Problem numero uno. You haven't had secks in 2 yrs? Even with a rubber? Fak bro. You sound like you have some deep rooted anxiety problems.

If you are dating women younger than 30 and they dont have a child they probably want a kid so dont expect anything serious with them except for secks and even then that wont last long once they find out there is no long term prospects with you.

Also, you can donate sperm or you could always get it reversed. Although im pretty sure insurance does not cover this and it will cost you upward of 10k.

There are certain vasectomies that are pretty easily reversible. I'd look into those, don't just go for the permanent one. And freeze some of the troops anyway just in case

Dewit. I know a guy that had his reversed (late marriage) and had a kid. If you don't want the responsibility of caring for a child, this is a great idea. I had one 6 months ago and it was a breeze. No pain during the procedure, and just sore for the following few days. Didn't even ice my boys.

Try to find someone who does not hum "He's got the whole world in his hands" while performing the procedure
