every goddamn redneck from north LA, east Texas and south Arky flocks to Shreveport for the MG parades
it makes for some great people watching since I live right off the parade routes

Galveston isn't in Louisiana but is the answer and it's not even close.

Negative. Don't you have to pay to attend the Gal MG?

Wife was from NOLA and had never been to any other parades outside of NOLA/Metry/etc.. Took her to a few Houma parades that relatives ride in and she was shocked. New Orleans parades are by far better, but the amount of crap thrown at a Houma parade is borderline dangerous.
People watching in Houma is also another very interesting aspect . The freakshow bayou trash all come out and line up on the street for all to see.
I've seen a little of BR and Lafayette and it's not close to Houma. I've not been to a S-Port Mardi Gras, but I honestly didn't even know they had Mardi Gras there. I mean it's a Catholic holiday and they're up in the Baptist bible belt.

We don't get off work, but we have parades.

Just came here to say Houma. To be more specific the old That Stanley Parking Lot.

When I was working in south LA, we never officially got off, but were always allowed to leave at like 10 a.m. since there were always parades blocking the streets
