Spanish town is a truck parade. I went once to see what the hype was about. Boy was that a let down. I mean I could have just gotten drunk at a block party minus the "floats".

Houma, hands down. They have 4 separate krewes that run on Mardi Gras day alone.

Didn't know the Cowboy fans in Shreveport actually celebrated Mardi Gras.

Mamou is good, but it isn't a parade.

IIRC Lake Charles has the largest parade outside of New Orleans. It's all the same shite anyway.

I've only been to New Orleans for Mardi Gras parades. I've wanted to catch a country Louisiana Mardi Gras (Mamou, Iota, Eunice), but I've been told that they aren't too welcoming to outsiders and that you could find yourself in some trouble. Any truth?

My cousin boasts about how the Shreveport parades are much safer than the New Orleans ones.

When you say "hands down" you should probably have experienced or at least have a broad knowledge of what you're talking about.

ETA; That's according to Blaine Kern who my dad knew from doing some Mardi Gras business with him.

As a kid Nola mardi gras blows everyone out the water.

As an adult they are all the same to me. And I dont see how any adult sees it differently? I mean it is an event where I get drunk, hang out with friends, and eat food. I enjoy it dont get me wrong, but what I fail to see is how adult me enjoys one mardi gras more then the other?

I agree, plenty of fun for a small town parade.

I can see that. I lived in Eunice the year after Katrina, and their Mardi Gras krewe came and chased a chicken around our year. That 15-20 minutes was the only experience I have with their MG, but from what I gather it's locals riding on horses and in trucks to people's houses that they know. There's probably more to it than that, but I'm not sure how a complete outside (without knowing someone there) would even get involved.

Only place you can hook your 4 Wheeler up to your Skiff, throw your kid in the boat with his Buzz Lightyear Halloween costume give him 2 crawfish sacks of beads to throw and call it a float.
