It's child abuse either way. 16 year old kids aren't really equipped to deal with issues in an adult manner, and if an adult takes advantage of them in this way that adult deserves to be punished.

So how do we find out in this hypothetical? Do we find texts from the teacher asking if our daughter is mad at him? Cause then I'd probably just feel bad for the guy.

I would not have caused trouble for a female teacher that was teaching my son a few extra things on the side. (His mother would have seen that differently, so there may be trouble anyway.)
