What location specific foods do you crave? I'm talking 'bout the damn delicious whatever you ate back in Place X that just can't be found anywhere else...or the locally available version is just not quite right. I'm craving a slice of Michigan sour cherry pie from Achatz Pie right now. Ain't nothing close to that in good ol LA.

quote:Oh, speaking of. The tortillas at Papacitos are the best I've ever had. When my wife and I go to Houston, we always go there and have never looked at a menu after the first visit. I could eat them plain with a little butter. Basically every tortilla I have had in La. has been a necessary evil in the fajita process.
Texas

Fish and chips from Cooper Island, BVI. I've had fish and chips from all over since eating there and nothing comes close to the fish or the chips there.

I'm not very well traveled, but I have had this.
Mine is from Mingalaba in Burlingame, near San Francisco:
Lap Pat Dok (Tea Leaf Salad)*
Salad with imported burmese tea leaves, tomatoes, cabbage, dried shrimp (or vegetarian), fried garlic, sesame seeds, peanuts and split yellow peas.
It doesn't look appetizing at all. Trust me, it's delicious! It is a composed salad when it is brought to you, and then the server mixes it all up.
Served with ginger lemonade, that I still crave.

The pan seared grouper fillet from Sunset Bar & Grille, on lake Jackson in Sebring, FL, was the best piece of fish I have ever put in my mouth.

Carolina Beach, NC- Kate's Pancake House
Great sweet potato pancakes and smores pancakes, but the crab cakes benedict was downright awesome.
Chicago, IL - Giordano's
Chicago style deep dish pizza. Ridiculous.
