Going for work next week.

Things to do?
Places to eat?

The OT usually delivers in some good details.

Jim's for cheesesteaks.

Reading Terminal is a pretty cool market with a wide variety of vendors.

Liberty bell, independence hall, reading terminal

For food, pats, genos, or tony lukes. Chickie and petes

ETA: Go to wawa for a hoagie, flyers are home next tuesday and saturday, 76ers are home this saturday, wednesday and next saturday

If you want bars try old city. Plenty of bars around there

Federal Doughnuts.

The best.

They make the doughnuts while you wait to eat them directly from the counter.

wawa for a hoagie

There hoagies have gone downhill since they stopped using Amoroso rolls. Any corner deli that slices the meat fresh and uses Amoroso rolls will beat wawa.

Tony Lukes would be my suggestion. Can't go wrong with the Pork Italiano.

When did that happen?!? Granted I'm still getting a wawa hoagie no matter what roll whenever I'm home

A few years ago in order to save money. They now bake the rolls fresh in the store. For a while I couldn't tell the difference, but the last time I was there they were disgusting. My go to Hoagie shop when I visit is a place called Majors. Uses Amoroso rolls and slices the lunch meat fresh.

Go find the gang from Its Always Sunny and have them ruin your life. It's worth it.

I'll have to do a taste next time I'm up there, those rolls are the greatest of all time. Can't get too much good italian food/bread down here unfortunately except maybe at anthony's deli

This is gonna be long

Things to do:
- If you're into history, obviously anything and everything around Independence Hall.
- Mutter Museum (medical oddities and curiosities)
- I haven't been to the art museum yet, but I know it's good. As is the neighboring Barnes Foundation.
- If the weather is nice, a walk down Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River is a must.
- If you have a car, get out to King of Prussia and Valley Forge. Also recommend going to some of the small old timey towns like Chestnut Hill, Manayunk, and the town where Longwood Gardens is (I forget the name). Jim Thorpe, PA is also not too far (1.5-2 hour drive) and is worth a visit.

I'll reply with any other good things to do that I can think of.

Best (IMO) places to eat (or at least worth checking out) as best as I can remember:
- Bud & Marilyn's (center city)
- A Kitchen + Bar (center city)
- Parc (center city)
- Talulah's Garden (center city)
- Umai Umai (near the art museum)
- El Vez
- Zahav (have not been but hear great things, near society hill, IIRC)
- Any restaurant run by Marc Vetri, they are all highly esteemed in the area
- Frankford Hall (this is a quick service Oktoberfest style beer hall in northern liberties)
- El Rey
- Hai Street Kitchen (home of the sushi burrito, quick service place in center city)
- Sweetgreen (build your own salad place, very good)
- Jake's and Cooper's Wine Bar (Manayunk)
- Dimeo's (Roxborough)
- Manayunk Brew Pub (great beer, food, and heated patio in Manayunk)
- SHAKE SHACK

That's all I've got for food that I can recall...I'm mainly familiar with Manayunk/Roxborough. Some of the best places to eat are in Northern Liberties/Fishtown as this is an up and coming area...we just never make it out that way because of parking and we'd rather go into Center City.

Places to drink:
- Frankford Hall
- Monk's Tavern(I think that's the name, it's very popular beer bar in the city, I've never been but hear good things)
- The Ranstead Room (awesome very very low key spot...if you eat at El Rey, ask your waiter to get you a table. If one is available, they'll walk you through the kitchen and basement and through the back entrance to the Ranstead Room. This is probably my favorite place in the city)
- Franklin Mortgage and Investment Co (may be called The Franklin Bar now)
- McGillian's (oldest bar in the city)
- Bru (douche magnet, but still fun)
- Google "Philly pop up parks", the city does seasonal pop up parks where alcohol is served, usually really cool spots.
- Ladder 15 (bar/club...normally a douche magnet, but fun. Late night at 500 Degrees is worth it after)
- Vango and Stratus Lounge have great views/patios...but probably too cold.

Any questions, feel free to ask. I'm certainly no expert, but I've made more than a few trips there. Probably in the minority, but I love Philly.
