If I never heard about 1/9 again that would be terrific.

It's too bad LSU and Bama both had such great teams that year. Bama would have slammed any other team much worse than they beat us in that game.

In the regular season, the two teams were pretty much equals. They did have a better QB than we did (he was better than Jefferson and didn't have Lee's happy feet when under pressure). If you compared the games against the two team's common opponents that year, the margin of victory was remarkably similar.

Short summary of the NC is that Saban opened up his offense and used his QB advantage while Miles kept pounding the RB into the defense, expecting to wear them down in the 4th quarter. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

I'm still baffled as to what happened on 01/09.

It's amazing how one game can affect the perception of a program and coach.

I can only speak for myself, but had we won that game I'd probably view Miles in a very different light. HELL! I'd probably look at him differently if he'd just started Lee the second half. Then at least I'd know he tried everything he could of!

Sadly LSU still hasn't fully recovered from that game, and I just don't envision us ever fully recovering while Miles remains at the helm. I hope and pray that he proves me wrong. I'd be more than happy to admit I'm wrong and eat the fattest crow alive!!!

Was the most talented team LSU ever had. A shame they will be remembered most for that night.

Yes. Had Oklahoma State made à field goal on a Thursday night, we would have won it all.

Also, 2012...repeat. Everyone wants to point to the the Bama final drive. We had a chance to close it out. Fourth and one. A 270 lb fullback, a 220 lb tailback. Instead we ran that stupid, tight formation, QB sneak. Failed. Horrible call. It was caused us that game. Not the last minute.

So we would have been considered the best team ever if we could have dodged playing the obviously better team that season in the championship game?

I love millennial logic.

Even most of the talking heads at the network that allegedly hates all things LSU said the Tigers were attempting to cap one of the greatest seasons of all time. Several, including Corso and Herbie thought that it would be considered #1. Instead, all that came of it was the beginning of the ongoing narrative that Les can't beat Saban, though going into that game he was up 3-2 over Nick.

1 loss Big 12, which the computers had ranked as the toughest conference that year, Champ OSU was fricked not being rewared the game...LSU was fricked having a rematch with team it beat on its on home field...

Because of the media's, especially ESPN, love fest with Saban they voted Bama in and because of it now we have this 4 team playoff circus...

I was at the game. The grumps where scared to death that LSU was going to finally show up to the game. Best team that Year for sure.

Yep. But it didn't happen. Thanks for helping us remember that Alabama destroyed and embarrassed LSU in New Orleans on 1-9-12. Are you planning an anniversary party?
