That's not the sort of thing you issue a no comment on with as high a profile case this has been. Engage some PR people and tell your story. Obviously Chavis has.

This appears to be one of those times where just paying the money would have been less expensive than dragging it out into court.

No matter how 'wrong' LSU thought Chavis was.

This is the most unskilled leadership, from FKing on down, I have seen in a long time.

Takes two to settle. Chavis may be out for blood which would be to expose Alleva and vindicate himself. Notice how Chavis and Miles still seem to be buddies. So if that is the case who is the opposing party?

Yea I know that. My point of view is you throw an absurd amount of money to make you not look like an incompetent arse in front of the entire world. However maybe they tried and Chavis refused.

Whatever the case may be, our administration is hot garbage.

Anyone know the possible legal ramifications the university is facing.

It is exactly an issue you don't give a comment on

Chavis is the one being shed here. LSU is an institution.

Also, why would LSU comment when there is a defamation lawsuit on the horizon.

You shut up and release a statement after. That's the best risk management move here through legal.

Taking this at face value looks very bad. Hopefully, more will come out in the proceedings. In the interim, LSU is taking another PR hit.

I suppose LSU could make the argument that he coached 2 more seasons under the altered contract. I am not sure what Chavis said about the alterations at the time though. Parties can agree to alter a contract and you can agree through acting on a contract. Not sure how solid an argument that is though.

Contracts are altered all of the time. But and this is a big but, they aren't considered valid unless both parties sign or initial the alteration.
If LSU did indeed do this then that is an unforgivable error.

We need 2 coonasses in the administration. Not from Duke and wherever the other one came from.

The alterations aren't valid. The original contract still should be

Frankly the only reason you don't comment is if you have nothing good or true to say and saying more only makes it worse. If that is where we are at then this latest embarrassment is only getting started. By the time it is over with we will be going to games at Chavis Field at Death Valley.

This is complete bullshite. I've reviewed the strategy involved in legal press releases from a risk management perspective for incidents in two fortune 100 companies, and they keep their mouths shut during almost every legal proceeding.

They make initial comments and comments after.

That's not good strategy in the modern Information Age. You're working with a 30 year old playbook - much like our head coach.
