Congrats to Lindsey! I know he has been discussed here many times before and many think he is not LSU material but he is in elite company now! Jimmie Smith posted last week on Twitter that he could be a dark horse for LSU QB slot but probably not.

The Gatorade Company, in collaboration with USA TODAY High School Sports, has announced Lindsey Scott of Zachary High School as its 2015-16 Gatorade Louisiana Football Player of the Year. Scott is the first Gatorade Louisiana Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Zachary High School.

The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Scott as Louisiana’s best high school football player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Football Player of the Year award announced in December, Scott joins an alumni association of past state award-winners in 12 sports, including Mark Sanchez (2004-05, Mission Viejo HS, Calif.), Wes Welker (1999-00, Heritage Hall HS, Okla.), Terrell Suggs (1999-00, Hamilton HS, Ariz.), Anquan Boldin (1998-99, Pahokee HS, Fla.) and Jerome Bettis (1989-90, Mackenzie HS, Mich.).

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound senior quarterback has led the Broncos to 12-1 record and a berth in the Class 5A state semifinals against Parkway High, scheduled for Dec. 4. Entering the postseason final four, Scott had completed 149-of-227 passes for 2,674 yards and 29 touchdowns while rushing for 1,607 yards and 23 touchdowns on 171 carries. The 2014 Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 5A Outstanding Offensive Player and the 2014 The Advocate Large Schools All-Metro MVP, he accounted for 17 touchdowns in the Broncos’ first three postseason games.

Scott has maintained a 3.77 GPA in the classroom. A member of the Zachary High Beta Club, he has volunteered locally as a youth mentor and as part of multiple community-service initiatives through his church.

“Lindsey Scott is an outstanding athlete,” said Dale Weiner, head coach of B.R. Catholic High. “He hurts opponents with his running and his passing. They won a few down-to-the-wire games this season. I don’t think they win those without him.”

Scott has verbally committed to play football on scholarship at Syracuse University in the fall of 2016.

Pulling for him.

Do they typically announce this award before the end of the year?

They need to go after him, and Cam needs to tweak the offense to fit the style of QBs they keep offering. Scott would kill it in an open offense.

We need the hometown product Lindsey Scott Jr leading our tigers to victories. Past LSU quarterback Herb Tyler was also underrated coming out of high school but out competed players who were more highly recruited to win the starting job.

No LSU offer. He's got one from Harvard though. That's impressive.

Why not offer this kid? If Les wants to run the ball, let's run the fricking triple option or some offense that (at least) takes all of the pressure off of LF. After watching the aTm game, it was obvious that both LF & DG should have been on the field at the same time.

How does the Gatorade POY, who lives in Louisiana, not have an offer from LSU?

I just don't understand why he would go to Syracuse? I am sure he is guaranteed to start but still he could go to LSU and compete for playing time as QB and also be what Russell Shepard was supposed to be the kid just makes plays

I still think tigers should offer this "GPOTY", athletic
can play the position, pull it down an run or a short game passer. Drew is doing fine at under six foot. Do the tigers need a long ball thrower who cannot hit the open short route
NO!! ..Keys to beating Johnny Rebs and
R-Kansas. Mix in victory over Alabama.I remember Herb Tyler years.
