He doesn't need to eat crow. What he posted was basically accurate until politics reared its ugly head at the last minute.

Didn't he say it's a "done deal" several times?

Done deal yes it was until our president steps in and nixes the deal

He was giving updates to the status of firing of miles (and hiring of Jimbo). I don't think the guy was lying. It's pretty obvious some things were going on behind the scenes and those events took a u-turn late Saturday night. But everyone here got their hopes up based on him (and others) stating Miles would be fired and possibly Jimbo replacing him.

Honestly the way the whole thing played out it felt like it was Jimbo or Bust and Jimbo said on friday to "those close to him" that he wasn't interested in leaving FSU.
I think LSU thought they could sway him with a huge payday but he's in the middle of a divorce and his son is a special needs kid who has less than 10 years to live, that is a huge deal IMO to be close to him. Money isn't everything.
LSU realized this during the aTm game and around the 3rd qtr didnt have a back up plan and quickly crawfished.

Although the very article linked in this thread has been updated, noting that Alexander nixed the deal on Wednesday of last week. Who knows what actually happened.

Only an idiot thinks that the Jimbo deal was going to happen until Alexander stepped in and stopped it.
No offense.
ETA: I seem several people in this thread believe that narrative. Use your common sense.

Clearly someone didn't have the chest to swing the axe.

Done Deal
No one can accurately predict a supervisory veto. It was a done deal for all intents and purposes until a political agenda, which has both pros and cons, intervened.
