nothing wrong with this. You either fit or you don't. Buy another seat or find an alternate source of travel. You're fat, loss weight or suffer the consequences.
The guy in the article doesn't look any bigger than probably a quarter of the passengers that I normally see.

That is a big guy, but I expected some obese WalMart slob.

That sounds about right with current obesity rates, kick them all off

Chris Shelley claimed he was kicked off the plane because he weighs a few more pounds.

He's not really that big
This is whats wrong with America's mindset about body weight.
This guy is a fat tub of obese lard in another country and in America we are so desensitized to fatty and morbidly obese people that he's considered "Not that big".

a few obeserviations (snicker) what does his status as a veteran have to do with anything and my god if this dude was black how big a story would it be?

I fly a lot through hubs in the south and mid west. The guy in the article isn't that big. If they start kicking people off planes for being his size, they'll have a lot of empty seats.

Well, he wasn't THAT fat, I expected a lot fatter.

I've sat comfortably in economy next to passengers much larger than that guy.

...give an airline attendant a badge and some authority and they become a prick.

If that is me I'm going straight to the gym. I would be too embarrassed to be put on the news in the exact lazy boy where the fatness accumulated.

well they have the little test containers that are used to see if your carry on baggage would fit.
How about a test seat to see if your fat arse fits? no fit, then buy and extra seat or go home.

Absolutely true.

That guy is overweight, but not morbidly obese. A six month regiment of good eating and exercise and he's pretty fit.
I was completely expected a 500+ pounder.

AA is the fricking worst period. That man was not any bigger than people I have seen flying on Delta and they had no problem.
