The buyout clause may terminate the existing contract with him but there is no stipulation that he can't remain on at LSU under a new contract

But everyone was so convinced that if Les left O and the other guy would stay.

His buyout language probably includes a clause that says he's owed nothing IF the head coach leaves. It would be my assumption that it's well within LSU's rights to retain him if they see fit.

HC > DC > DL coach. And he's never even been a DC, so promoting him at LSU wouldn't be the best choice.

Of course he's interested in a HC position. Ole Miss hiring him from a position coach to be the HC coach was laughable. And he was a failure. I don't see this happening.

you can't fire Miles and expect to retain his staff
You absolutely can in isolated cases. i.e., Jimbo when Les came in.

If we get Jimbo, this is a moot point.

This thread really blows me away. I thought everyone understood what happens when you fire your head coach and get a new coach.

If you want Les gone you have to face the fact that this recruiting class like falls apart.

He may not be obligated to stay, and LSU may not be obligated to keep him, but that is very different than "He can't stay if Les goes." He and LSU are free to negotiate whatever contracts they like, today and at any point in the future.
