I see posters speculating that the new Coach will keep Orgeron or others around..

That seems like wishful thinking.

Isn't a new Head Coach going to want the guys HE hand picked with no question about loyalty? It always seems to work that way.

Well, if whoever is hired doesn't see the value of O and Wilson being on staff then he shouldn't be hired in the first place.

It's absolutely wishful thinking. Frank may want to move on and get an OC job some where

I think Les had 2 coaches from Saban's previous staff, ironically Jimbo Fisher being one of them.

I think the new coach retains Ed Orgeron and Corey Raymond.

Sometimes the new HC cleans house and sometimes he keeps a couple guys from the previous staff.

Case in point: Saban arrived and cleaned house; Miles arrived and retained OC/QB coach Jimbo Fisher and OL coach Stacey Searels.

If for some reason Jimbo came I think for sure he'd keep Orgeron. Wilson idk, depends what he wants to do. In this unlikely hypothetical Jimbo could very well just promote Wilson to OC since he calls plays anyways

If MHC knows the SEC and understands that these guys can recruit, then it's in his best interest to keep them and keep them happy...

if not, I can only hope Alleva won't sign his new buddy up to a 11 year contract with a 20mil buyout.

Not always. Need O for DL and overall recruiting. I'd like to think the new coach will be in the know regarding LA HS football. Having LA guys recruiting LA kids is a huge plus.

Why is everyone assuming that Miles is gone? Did I miss something?

The only coaches I see a new coach possibly retaining are Frank and O, maybe Raymond.

Both Saban and Miles kept coaches from the previous regime when they were hired so yeah not really

With college position coaches you generally want top notch recruiters that can also coach some. Also, they have to keep recruiters with ties to that universities hot spots.

With that in mind, I have no doubt a new coach would try to keep Raymond, O and Wilson on staff.

I think the bigger concern is that a couple of those guys might want to move on from LSU. Probably not Orgeron since he just got here.

Don't have any source, just my perception, but it seems that a new coach will usually keep at least one couch around from the old staff or a year or two....and in some cases there are coaches on a staff that might stay through 2-3 changes.

Continuity in recruiting is a big deal.

I also think in LSUs case, this is not a situation where a complete overhaul is needed. More like a Porsche needing a tune up.

He may want that. But the assistants who remain under contract are employed by LSU, not Les Miles. So it is ultimately up to the AD if they are kept on.

As I recall, at least the rumor was, Jimbo was kept on because Skip wanted him kept on not because Miles wanted.

I've said several times before that the quickest way to get a coaching candidate to say "no thanks" to your job is to mandate up front who he retains from the current staff.

Coaches with options don't like their staffs dictated to them by the administration.

Any new LSU coach -- if they have an opening, which they won't -- would be wise to keep Frank Wilson and Orgeron around for recruiting reasons, but it's definitely wishful thinking.

The new HC, an offensive genius type, will immediately lure The Chief back & the aggies will drop back into the Big 12 like dark ages of not playing any defense.Again.

Yeah and Alleva and Chief will go fishing and hang out together.

I don't see Les Miles retiring. How would you explain to your wife turning down a legally contracted $15 million buyout package? You don't.

Every news outlet seems to be reporting he's done.
